Good night! (ever have one of 'those' days?)

What a day I had today. Just checking in before I go to bed. Went to work today, but the main road into the city was closed, two cars on fire. Detour through the countryside, thought I'd get lost. Made it to the parking lot near work, but the stupid bus was full and had to walk or wait 20 or more minutes for next one. It was in the single digits this morning and I froze my behind off. Got to my floor right at 7:30 so someone else got to do the charge nurse duty today.

Then I decided to go to the hospital next door for lunch, they were having Ruebens so I asked them to make one without Thousand Island, lady told me the already made ones didn't have any on them. Hands me one, I look and sure enough it had it on it. (I could see the crap coming out of some of them and knew they probably all had it on them.) She was trying to tell the other cook what to make and so he finally put it on the grill. There was a glare on the plastic cover that was over the food so I couldn't even see the grill itself. After dozens and dozens of people go ahead of me, he finally hands me a plate of corned beef with no BREAD! I asked for bread, so he puts it on bread, I asked if it couldn't be grilled, PLEASE. Finally he grills it starts to put Thousand Island dressing in a side cup, No thanks! I have a 30 minute lunch and it took them 25 and I still had to walk back over to my hospital and eat it. Used my debit card to pay for it and the first three scans didn't work. I nearly came unglued at that time but just asked if I could try another register. It worked at the next one.

Getting ready to end the day, someone (RN) called in, said they wouldn't be in till midnight. They had both CNAs call in too. So, guess who got to stay late? Yep, me. MRSA room too, passing meds, what a mess that was left for me too. Miscommunication between that nurse and the manager so she actually came in sooner than midnight after she was told she had to. Thank goodness.

I was beginning to wonder if I'd make it home ok.

You ever have one of those days?
