Storing yeast (IDY)

I have some instant dry yeast (IDY) that I have been storing in my freezer since 2005. It appears to be working fine, but I wonder if I should replace it. I bought a one pound bag for $5, and so it's not much of an investment, but I wonder whether it is really necessary to replace it. I keep it in the foil bag that it came it, tightly closed and secured and them placed in a ziplock freezer bag with all the air removed. I've read of people keeping frozen yeast for several years, but I wondered what people's experience here is. I'm try to go for a Guinness World Record. The pizza I made on Sunday and the stromboli I made on Monday rose fine with the three year old yeast. The shop across the street has the one pound bags of IDY, and the bags they have now have the date of 2008/2009.

I didn't use much of the yeast that I bought in 2005 because my oven didn't work well, but now I plan to bake a lot more bread (I think). I have German Pumpernickel dough rising right now, and so I hope it will be okay. I substituted flax seeds for the caraway seeds because DB doesn't like caraway (although I do). I thought it was the texture he didn't like but he said it was the flavor. The flax seeds have almost no flavor (that I can tell), and so they will be fine. I'm trying to eat more flax, and I thought this might be a good way to use some of the seeds I have.

The neighbors have said they will take whatever leftovers I have that I am unable to store, and so I'm not going to worry about baking too much. They are four guys in the early 20s and don't have a problem with appetite.
