Face Pain

I have had this pain at the left side of my face for about a week now. Went to the doctor's yesterday and he was stumped. Said it was neuralgia. (I could have told him that! LOL!) It isn't a dental problem, or TMJ, they checked for that.

It is like spasms that come and go and my ear hurts, too, not the inner ear, but the outside. Today, it's not as bad, and I can certainly live with it, but I just wonder what is causing it. Could it be the start of a cold or something like that? At times, my throat is sore on that side, but not all the time! Weird.

I'll tell you a personal story about neuralgia. I kept having a sharp stabbing pain on the side of my head. My son is a doctor, so I asked him what he thought. He thought it was neuralgia and gave me a prescription.

Well, I remembered that an old fashioned remedy for neuralgia was to inject the site with alcohol. So I skipped the prescription and got a bottle of real sweet wine and got zonked. My husband had to help me to bed. He thought it was funny!

I know it was probably a coincidence, but maybe some of the alcohol got to the problem as that ended the pain. It's a family joke now that since Mama didn't have a needle, she just used a bottle.

It's not something that I would suggest, but if you are in the habit of a glass of wine now and then, maybe a big glass of Morgan David Grape (which is very sweet) would be worth trying. A sweet wine goes to the brain really fast.

Well, I do drink a glass of red wine every night, and it is slowly getting better. LOL!

I certainly would be sure of yourself before you make the decision to undergo IVF. It is a very difficult and stressful experience at times. It was the most rewarding thing that my wife and I have ever done in our life. Here is my wife and my little miracle: Also if you are thinking about doing it then there is no time like the present(of course heed the warning in the first sentence). The longer that you wait the lower the chances. That is why we are considering doing it again soon even though insurance in VA does not cover it. If you have any questions about the process I would be happy to share my knowledge on the matter. It is an amazing process and I even considered becoming a fertility doctor after going through this with my wife. I don't want to say IVF is the only way since adoption is available as well. My neighbor adopted 1 and did IVF once and that worked for her. My wifes best friend adopted through a local who she found herself that was unable to provide proper care for herself yet alone a child and that worked great for her. Also one of my coworkers adopted 3 children from China which was full of obstacles but now she has some of the nicest/best mannered children that I have ever met. SO whatever route you go just be sure to weigh all of your options and also that you and your husband are on the same page. Moments such as this do not occur if you do not take a chance. Sorry tohear about your reaction. Are you referring to Stargazer lilies ?I am not familiar with Star lilies. I get similar reactions to smoke and when my allergies flare up from grain dust.

I bought something similiar several years ago, called a nasal douche. I have stuffiness/allergies all the time and will get terrible sinus headaches. You have to get used to using it, not tip your head back as the directions say but to the side and slightly back as the person did on Oprah. I don't use mine all the time but when I feel the tenderness or have a headache that won't go away with one Tyneol, I use it for a few days and it does help. You have to be careful - the concentration of salt in the water is important. If you don't use enough or any then you dry out your nasal passages and you can end up with another infection. Too much and it burns really bad when you use it. I think it is a useful product when done right. I have seen the kits and that is now what my allergy doctor recommends since it has the correct % of salt, but they are expensive to my thinking. Carla - maybe you did push your infection back up further. Did you hold you head back or to the side.

Thank you mle0782, I never heard of them before. I know my bedroom was not built in 1959 but more recently. Is there a way to find when online? I emailed Alachua County asking for the permits. Chinese drywall problems are for constrcuction in the 2001-2009 timeframe, so if my room was built outside that range I should be fine. As for the AC: I have a fancy brand new Trane 2-stage. No UV light And it is off in the winter since house stays in the 65-70 degrees, but I still had itchy eyes all winter (no chest pain yet). Pool is maintained by a company, and no chlorine or else is stored here. I forgot to say that 7 months ago I woke up at 3 am with a crazy rash in all my body, run to the hospital, got a shot and I was fine within 24 hours. Never happened in my life. I thought it was unrelated, and could be, I might have eaten something bad. It never happened again. I will try to sleep in another room this week and I update you. Any suggestion is welcome in the mean while.

As a chronic pain patient I think I know why the getting drunk method worked, you "broke the pain cycle". When you have pain your body tends to tighten in that area and then that produces more pain, not saying that this will stop all pain or I wouldn't be hurting like I do! But it does help a lot of pain that is of "an unknown cause" with the vague definitions like "myalgia". I also felt like screaming DUH, I know that means you don't know what it is, just say so!!!!!
