I'll see if I can round up some Tuna cans (sounds like I know what I'll be having for lunch all week) to test out my irrigation. Thats a great suggestion. I also would agree that I probably set unrealistic expectations for the lawn, especially considering that I started in the spring. I'm realizing that now after doing some research... its not as simple as mow, water, fertilize. I'll head to HD get the Immunox to at least apply something to the lawn in hopes of doing something. I do have two dogs and two cats (well... havent seen one in 2 days so maybe I have one now...), so I have to be somewhat careful. Thankfully, the back yard looks muuuuuuch better in terms of health, so I can keep them back there and not treat that yard with anything harsh. If I do want to attack and address the fungal issues on my lawn so that this issue isnt present or as prevalent next year, and if the fall is the best time to address the lawn overall... How would you guys approach your fall regimen were this your yard?

FIV is likely correct, but really nothing to do about that... have to concentrate on treating the stomatitis if you want your cat to improve. First of all, you noted she is in pain, which is always the case with feline stomatitis... so you might have your vet prescribe her pain meds. That won't take care of the stomatitis, but it will make her feel better and she might eat better (tuna is a VERY bad diet for cats and can quickly cause some very serious malnutritional problems). Buprenex is a great pain killer for cats with an excellent safety margin. Most cats feel a LOT better on pain meds and will usually start eating a balanced canned diet. Secondly, to adress the stomatitis itself, you may need to see a dental specialist, or at least someone with good dental skills. All the teeth have to be removed if you want any hope of resolving the stomatitis. 80% of the time, this takes care of the problem... sadly 20% of cats only get somewhat better, but ALL get at least somewhat better. You may need to put her on immunosuppressants, since the stomatitis is an immune malfunction disease. These drugs have their own side effects, so I would try to use them minimally and get rid of the teeth first... but if you have to, keep her on these meds (better than being in constant pain). This is a very common condition and a very frustrating one as well sometimes. You are not alone.

How much canned tuna is OK? Fortunately, parents and kids need not give up tuna altogether. There are two main kinds of canned tuna: chunk light and solid or chunk white (albacore). All canned white tuna is albacore. Its mercury levels are almost three times higher than the smaller skipjack, used in most canned light tuna. These recommendations are based on EPA guidance and estimates of mercury in the most popular canned tunas: Canned white, or albacore (0.32 parts per million of mercury). Children under six can eat up to one 3-ounce portion a month; children from 6–12, two 4.5-ounce portions a month. Adults, including pregnant women, can safely eat it up to three times a month (women, 6-ounce portions; men, 8-ounce portions). Canned light — the safer choice (0.12 parts per million of mercury). Children under six can eat up to three 3-ounce portions per month. Older children and adults can safely eat it once a week. But look out for “gourmet” or “tonno” labels. They are made with bigger yellowfin tuna and can contain mercury levels comparable to canned white. A better alternative is canned salmon (mostly sockeye or pink from Alaska), which is low in contaminants and high in heart-healthy omega-3s.
