That's been my pet peeve for years. Not only are the rolls not as long, but they're not as wide. They very carefully preserve the number of sheets per roll, but the 'sheets' are smaller all the way around. To make the rolls appear larger, they've increased the size of the cardboard roll inside.

And they barely, barely, fit on the old "built into the wall" dispenser in this old building...

Well, they also emboss and fluff the toilet paper so that it takes less paper to make a fat roll. That has been going on for many, many years.

And then they sell these "double rolls" for a lot
more money, that still aren't as big as they used
to be.

Gadgets described something I just noticed last week, that the Charmin sheets look a little shorter than they used to.

I was thinking the company might be doing that so they can still put the same number of sheets on the package label, but actually be putting less paper in each roll.

Yep, they'd much rather try and fool the consumer than be straight about cost (profit) increases. This infuriates me as I, and anyone, hate to be taken for an unsuspecting fool.

I remember 30 years ago, I could make enough tuna salad out of one can of tuna to fill three sandwiches. Tuna cans have shrunk so much I now get only one and a half sandwiches per can.

I think there was just someone on TV showing the different sizes in the toilet paper and how is has gotten so much smaller....And I agree about the darn tuna cans....We buy alot of tuna and give it to the cats and just in the last couple of weeks, noticed the difference...Still charges the same amount, but you get a lot less.....

And, sugar is 4# instead of 5#, and price has nearly doubled. So many things are the same way, guess we just have to live with it:(

20 ounce pepsis just went down to 16. something ounces. The preices went down a little - for now.

But I agree with the TP and tuna. I would rather they kept the size and charged more.

Around here, 4# bags of sugar are common. I noticed the peanut butter jars that used to bulge outward now have an hourglass look and bulge inward! Haven't checked to see how many ounces they cut.

Years ago I started buying Scott paper products. Excellent value. I'm amazed they don't sell better. Considering one roll of Scott equals about 5 rolls of the others, do the math on the fraction of the cost. Although I have to say, being a little narrower, if it is, doesn't bother me. The width doesn't affect the use here. I did notice some of the paper towels being narrower though and that affects how it's held on the paper towel holder.

I understand the cutting sizes, but what annoys me is the other things like adding water to meats. That annoys me.
