got a new stove. And a surprise

well our30 year old stove decided to die a slow death and there is no fixing her . So went and got a new one and even got the canning element for this summer.

But we had a littlesurprise waiting for us. We have a bun in the oven lol not. I remember telling about getting my tubes tied, but must not have worked or dan has Olympic swimmer. I am hving some cramping alltie time and felling pretty down. Spent4 hours in the we but I am barely 4weeks along. So wasn't able to find the baby yet. Too small yet. This is not something we planned on but it is ttuelly a gift from god. Ian hoping it isn't an ectopicpregnancy but too soon to tell.hayden) will be 15montjs when this one comes.

so say a prayer Gor me,I am pretty emotional and physicallyexhausted and still cramping and worried about we will find out.

Keeping you in my prayers, Stacie, and praying it isn't an ectopic pregnancy. Had one myself many years ago. Just rest as much as you can (not much with three other young'uns), keep up your prenatal care and pray for another healthy blessing.

Got a pic? Is there anything preventing you from abandoning the brick run which is causing you other problems and running the flue straight up to the attic (before realigning to the external chase) via sheet metal? You are being threatened by a 100 year old bad (bad?) design trying to dictate what you do today if I read that right. Do you want the brick (maybe needing expen$ive work to be restored to safe reliable working condition?) or do you want your kitchen? A repair mason may actually suggest lining it with a metal flue. Modern sheet metal is very adaptable stuff; brick isn't. A flue made out of brick will be, what, six or seven inches thicker than one made out of a double layer of sheet metal, the flue space within being equal? Of course removing a brick structure may reveal that it's supporting something, accidentally or deliberately, that would then have to be repaired, and it would be a permanent removal. You say it's pretty but the KD wants to hide it. I think that people 100 years ago didn't think much about exposed utility brick being proper design and you may find a horrendously ugly bricklaying job under the carefully applied plastering. There's one way to find out, but removing plaster without damaging brickface often isn't easy, clean, or cheap. Looking at all that it sounds like a scolding! It's not, I swear. I wouldn't want that decision.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the shape is one that would fit an older style TV, the kind with the big back on it. And it goes even a little deeper to accommodate the receptacle and cable connections that previous owners had installed. The opening is about 30-1/2 inches wide at the front, about two feet deep, plus a few inches, and about four feet high. The part of the wall that becomes angular toward the back center (following the supposed shape of the TV they must have once had) is pretty far back into the space, beyond where it would interfere with anything I'm trying to do, and I believe a moderate-sized micro could be mounted in the mouth of the opening with room to spare behind, for the cord to plug into the receptacle back there (which of course I will make sure is wired and circuited correctly). There would still probably be something like a foot and a half of space below it. I am not planning on a full-sized drop-in induction cook top, only a double-burner induction hotplate. They are not too wide, not too deep. Just right, as Goldilocks might say. But the combination, with both these items tucked into the hole-in-the-wall, contained in a "cooking area," as it were, would 1) give me a use for the hole in the wall, 2) mimic the arrangement of the stove top with above-mounted micro commonly found in homes today, and 3) offer a decorating opportunity, such as if I put a faux brick or stone on the floor of the opening (which hits me at just about the same height as a stove I'd stand in front of). I think the items I'm talking about will fit (at least one contractor thinks so, so far), as long as the basics of electricity and practicality of movement are addressed. The hotplates, while not dropped in like a cooktop, would still stay in the same place and, being relatively shallow, would, I think, convey the impression of a cook top. Enough to suit me, anyway. I'm not a gourmet chef or anything. That's why I want a micro-convec (instead of just micro) oven, because I am foregoing a standard oven altogether due to space constraints.

Ouch, Linelle. It just doesn't seem to matter how long you wait, or how well you plan...something will jump up and bite you. For us, it was realizing recently that what DH refers to as a bit of dampness in the basement... actually water on a ledge/dirt floor... was going to need some heavy-duty attention NOW. So this week, we're having the whole thing cleaned out, leveled, bigger sump and then wrapped across floors and up the walls. All for the tidy sum of $8500:-( I absolutely refused to put off the kitchen one more time... demo starts in three weeks... so we've just had to really dig deep AND remove a warming drawer and new DW from the plan. Oh and implants?? Got such a bad infection from step one last fall, the dentist wouldn't even consider step two until after six months. Ugh. So here's to all of you facing whatever comes with a few tears, a shrug... and a bottle of wine!

Oh please keep this thread going. It is good to know that I was not the only one taken by the previous owners and stuck with a real big fixer upper. Mine started right after I moved in. July 2001. I noticed that there was always water standing on the floor after taking a shower. I thought ok I will chaulk around tub. That did not work. I kept trying things that I though would fix the problem, but still water on floor. I then went down in the crawl space to look at floor of bathroom. Well to my surprise it was all rotten. They had tried it, seemed, to fix floor but did not put the floor under tub. So tub was leaning inward of the room. So all water just flowed to the floor. Bathroom had to be gutted and floor beams replaced due to rot.Also I found that the window sill in the master bedroom was rotten with a huge hole in sill. I filled with foam to try and keep air out but still I could watch the wind blow the curtain even with plastic over the windows. . Well the next year we found out why. The spare bedroom was so cold and the master was windy. That hole side of the house was eaten up by termites. The spare bedroom out side wall was not even attached to the support beam anymore.You could move it back and forth. You could see from the crawl space that they jerry rigged it to hold the house shingles on. That entailed us getting jacks and jacking up the house on that end and replacing 10x12 support beam and 2x4's up wall. That explained why the house was so cold and my power bill so high. I also had found covered up switch plates that had live wires in them, but did not know where these wires went or what they controlled. Dh went to replace the ceiling fan in kitchen and found that they had used that junction box for everything even the next 2 bedrooms. So many wires attached in one area. Then we had a huge hole cave in and found out that is where the old septic tank was and instead fo getting a contractor to fill it, according to the neighbors, they decided to fill them selves with anything they could find. They had also blocked off the attic vent with cardboard, that I cannot understand why. Reading these posts you wonder why we even get home inspections. I feel now that it is just a money maker scheme. And how they can get away with signing the disclouser form , which I thought we a legal document, and not be held accountable for the damage that was there when they sold the house. Well Stacy it was meant to be.......Hayden must want a new baby brother. Two and two would be nice! Lets just hope it's a nice easy pregnancy, you'll have a lot on your hands with all that canning you'll be doing.

Holy smokes. You didn't waste any time! Even after a tubal ligation?? That is one determined little kiddo.

I remember my doc saying that he clipped a piece out of the tubes to be sure they ends wouldn't somehow find each other and reconnect. I think the chances of something like that happening are nonexistent anyway.

I wonder what your doc did clip since I think he missed your fallopian tubes.

Still, every baby is a blessing (sort of), so I am happy for you. Enjoy the new stove, too. What kind is it?

I know a couple of people who have a "blessing from God" baby since they had their tubes tied....it happens.
I guess that little soul just needs to be born!
Take care of you.....and tell DH he has now to step up to the plate and pitch in and help.....and see that he gets snipped before there is another oops!

Thank you so much for all the support. All I could say when I was crying to my mom was that I tried so hard not to get pregnant:) But I am hoping that it is real and not ectopic. We were in the emergency room from 9 at night until 1 this morning. They did ultrasounds regular and vaginal for 40 minutes trying to find something, but I am only a few weeks pregnant. I am still feeling some cramping but wondering if I am just in the implantation stage. I am so glad that I didn't get rid of my maternity clothes this summer like I had planned on doing. So I have clothes for both boys and girls and we have decided not to find out if everything is okay and let the baby be a surprise.

That Darn Hayden, He just wants brother to play with instead of his pesky sisters. So even though we are at state basketball I am attempting to keep quiet. Dan has been carrying Hayden around and dropping me off at stores.

What really makes me mad is that I wanted to go shopping today for new clothes since I have lost so much weight. Since that doesn't matter I bought 4 new pairs of shoes, and some treats for myself. And I do feel better. Funny thing is a month ago Dan admitted that if we had another girl, he would let us try for a boy instead of getting my tubes tied. I was a little ticked because I would have really liked to have had another one...... guess my wish was heard by someone and made it true.

I found out 4 years ago today I was pregnant with my daughter. I had an IUD at the time(is that TMI) so I was afraid of an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage when they removed it. Everything turned out fine for me and I hope the same for you.

Now what kind of stove???

Well, congratulations, I think. You are going to be one busy mom. Though after the third one, you can do this with one hand tied behind your back. Which is good, because you'll have to??

I was told that when my first was 5 months old, I had all the signs, but..........it was a false positive pregnancy test. The OB called the next day and asked me to come back. They repeated the test and it was negative. Something about all the raging hormones and nursing, etc, can cause false positive. I had two more kids, but not that close together.

Well we were able to get into a labratory here in Lincoln with out seeing a doctor and my HCG level was 425 Late Wednesday night ( 11:00) and today my HCG level was 985 so there is definately a baby in there. But Dr is sure based on ultrasounds and test results that the baby is where it is supposed to be;) We are getting excited, but if you remember how big I got with Hayden???? You know it is a bad sign when I had to get some baggy sweat pants to wear this weekend becuase my pants don't fit already. With Hayden I was in maternity clothes at 7 weeks. Since this is number 4 I am afraid the baby will be hanging at my knees.

Congratulations, that's certainly is a shock! You'll definitely need another pair of helping hands around the house--I needed them with my two only 16 months apart, I cannot imagine having 4 under the age of 6!
