3 LVP choices - not sure which is best for pets

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping that someone out there might steer me in the right direction!

My husband and I are renovating our entire main floor - living room, dining room, kitchen and powder room. We currently have carpet and linoleum and want to get rid of it and put down a flooring that will not only look nice but will be durable as we have 2 cats and 1 dog who enjoy chasing each other constantly.

We're looking at LVP and have narrowed the choices down to 3:
- Tarkett - Millstone Collection (Plank)
- Mannington - Adura / Adura Distinctive Plank
- Kraus - Carlota Plank

Does anyone have any experience with any of these 3 products? If so, what are your thoughts?

Is glue-down better than floating?

I've seen and read so much about LVP that my head is spinning and I need help to regain my sanity!

i have posted before about my experience with glue down Mannington Adura. see the link. I still love it.
it still looks great after about 6 years. I especially love that I don't have to worry about scratches like I would with wood.

I don't know about the negative comments on that thread. (I think competitors are spamming) Or maybe the product has changed in 6 years??? I don't have any floor protectors on my chairs and I have never had any scratches.
in the kitchen and foyer, we installed a new underlayment, used Mannington glue and followed the installation instructions and have not had any come loose.
It's been the perfect floor for us. 2 crazy slobbery dogs and wet (snowy) feet entering through the front door, and never any trouble.

We have an LVP in our new build but it's floating. We do not like it because all the seams are starting to pull because the locking mechanism is, according to a flooring installer friend, "cheap".

If it weren't for it constantly pulling apart, I would be over the moon about ours. It's durable, beautiful and the added bonus of moisture resistant was great for an open floor plan spanning from the entrance/living room to kitchen.

Why, what? Why would it be appropriate? My gosh there are thousands of people (more I am sure) that put this stuff in now. As far as your dog - what do you have now? Does he damage the floors? Maybe you need to keep his nails trimmed? Honestly, if he is that bad, then you need to think about that. As far as preference - OF COURSE it is about preference! It always is! There are people that will never have ANYTHING but hardwood in their homes and will sniff their noses in the air and act like anything else is just crap. There are people that have messy families and messy pets and know that a good sheet vinyl will be their best solution in their kitchen. Also remember that reviews that you find online will always be a much higher percentage of negative - since people generally don't go online to rave about how good something is - only to vent and post complaints. Keep that in mind. That said, there are many many blogs and forums where LVT/LVP has its praises sung. You are not going to get a clear-cut answer that tells you what is the best for YOU. Lisa--Does no one in Florida open their windows and just let the fresh air in during the cooler times? Frankly, that is one of the reasons I was thinking LVT might be a good solution. Unless it's really hot and humid, we are pretty much let the fresh air in type of people. But, I also did some more thinking about the LVT that I was planning to install--Flooret--which features extremely large planks with enhanced bevels. I've now reinforced my earlier thought that I don't like the enhanced bevel (with each separate plank emphasized) look that seems to currently be popular in both engineered hardwood and LVT. I much prefer the look that one gets with real tongue and groove, on-site finished floors. A more regular, smoother surface constancy in look that is the way the old-fashioned 100-year-old oak and maple floors in our primary home present. Now that Christmas is over I may go back to the flooring stores to take a look at my options. For the main floor, IF I could find some timeless-looking porcelain tile that I liked a whole lot and that isn't a trendy design (sorry, but I think wood look porcelain is super trendy) and whose installation cost isn't a killer I could maybe maybe consider that. But, it's my understanding that hard tile is quite an expensive install. I like Marmoleum, but it doesn't have the look I want. And, last time around when we did some remodeling I investigated it and found it to be very pricey. And, I think I am going to give my realtor a call to get some feedback about what she hears from buyers in the area. Thanks all.

If in doubt go darker. Like 3-5 times darker. When the product is PURPOSEFULLY stained a different colour than the floor, it is used as an ACCENT. That accent can then be 'picked up' in other ways. Such as a dark railing or dark spindles. All it takes is TWO items to create a 'look'. This works with pillows and area rugs or area rugs and drapes. It can work for stair treads and railings/spindles. Simply make the decision that makes TWO items the same colour. Maple is a pain to stain LIGHT...but it is very handsome when worked in a DARK stain. It will look 'almost' painted but not quite. Ask the wood trim company to create a dark charcoal or 'almost' black stain. And then MAKE SURE you get ONE OTHER ITEM in that same colour. The two put TOGETHER make a statement. It's a brilliant way to fix an oopsa.

Is this a high rise condo? I ask because high rises in my experience generally have concrete subfloors. In my experience the HOA in a high rise condo will have very specific sound abatement requirements so you should ask the management what the requirements are. The manager will also generally know what kind of floors are installed by residents. My building is a high rise with concrete floors and there are also specific rules governing noise and flooring as well as other things. Most people have engineered wood but there are people with other surfaces - e.g. tile, stone and a few with laminate. A good floor company will be familiar with the best sound abatement installation - FWIW I have wood with subfloor of cork and plywood.

We have the Tarkett Nafco Permastone LVP. We required a glue down floor due to uneven floors (old settling). We've only had it for six months but, so far, I am in love with the stuff. It is bullet proof. It's had paint splattered on it (peeled right off), a heavy platter dropped from counter height (not even a mark) and our new dog not only chases the poor old cat, but has relieved himself on it a couple of times (!). Nothing harms this stuff. Plus, it looks enough like wood that a couple of guests have actually reached down to touch it, just to be sure. You can't go wrong.
