Thanks for your response, I would rather be dead that try to deal with this without some resources in my hand. It sure takes the fun out of living.
Only real relief I can get is to go to PT, the gals throw me down on the table quickly and usually one time is good for many months. I try and do the same at home, only I fall back onto my high bed, that has been a really big help too.

Do you only have vertigo? Do you also have a ringing in the ears? Hearing loss? A friend was recently diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, and it's driving her crazy. She finds minor relief with a low-sodium diet, avoiding certain triggers (chocolate and fluorescent lights) and noisy places. And she takes meclizine (Bonine, Dramamine) when it gets really bad. But there is no cure, just coping strategies.

I don't mean to scare you but, I hope you have had a thorough brain scan. My neighbor was tormented by vertigo for years and years. Well, she had an episode in a doctor's office and he said, "that is not vertigo". He ordered the appropriate test and she had an aneurism in her head.

I just went through a phase of dizzy spells, they eventually went away but not before I fell and broke my humorous in 3 places when I passed out. No treatment for it.

sushipup, you have hit the nail, I have ringing, meniers/ and hearing loss as well. The noise in ears is like thoselocusts that only come now and then. I have learned to shut that out, always not successful, but I feel badly for your friend, wish I had known before it came over me, and it just came over me one day, had no idea what it really was, now of course I read as much as I can.
Changing my diet doesn't help, been there done that too, but if it works for her so much the better, we all need sumpin to hang onto for sure. I told a friend today, I would rather be dead that lurching and reeling around when in a episode of vertico than suffer thru it. It comes and goes in streaks, have been pretty good til tody, and with the dizzy patch doc has given me, think I can nip this one in the bed, and live normally for a time.

No, diet doesn't really help her, but she likes to think that it will. Sounds like you and my friend are in the same boat. Sigh. She's miserable sometimes.

Sushipup, and Emma, thanks for the responses, as I knew before I wrote there was no "cure" I was hopeful to find out if there would be some exercises to sort of keep the darn thing at bay.I have no idea what brings it on, I flip sides all nite to assure that crystals hopefully stay where they belong, and use the dizziness patch so that I can get around.
That is such a nasty life if you can't get something of a handle on it.
Seems to come in waves, I can go months without trubble, and then there it is, but I believe is my own fault, I am in the midst of garden cleanup here, and lots of bending with head lower that knees sometimes, that really triggers things, but I want to live a somewhat normal life, so I do keep that ace tucked in my pocket. For those that never have something like this, I surely hope they are grateful it doesn't happen to them

I do try those exercises and doc has given me sheets of stuff to try, but sometimes it lasts longer than I care to have it!!!!!!!!!!

Vertigo and ringing in the ears [tinnitus] there is a variety of caused including hypertension, lead, mercury toxicity, nutritional deficiencies, osteoporosis, food allergies and /or hypoglycemia. All of these can be corrected by good nutrition and correct supplements. I had these problem now free.

Coming in late here, but DH started suffering from vertigo about 8 years ago. He had an irritation on one of the vestibular nerves in the ear. He was put on Trileptal which is usually used for epilepsy. The vertigo episodes disappeared. He was on it for about 5 years. Two years ago he asked the neurologist if he could stop taking it and the dr agreed to try it. He tapered off slowly over several months and he has not had vertigo again.

I had vertigo several years ago. It scared me half to death...
I ended up finding out it was BPV - Benign Positional Vertigo

How was I cured? The ear doctor sat me in a chair that swiveled and
basically turned me upside down and around, etc. (can't remember the procedure) and when he was finished - I never got it again.

Something about "ear rocks" that were out of place - and when put back in place - no vertigo (dizziness) again.
