Thank you for all the great inputs. Folks on the GW are the best! DH reminded me the experience I had with the Discover card. Years ago I had one. The last transaction before I terminated the card was I made a $10K purchase, as always paid in full for that billing cycle. I received financial charge of $250 the following month recorded as I had only made payment for $1K. It turned out the mistake was caused by Discover Card's clerical error, but I was the one had to run between my bank and Discover Card to provide payment proof. It took a couple of months to clear the issue. Discover Card customer service was very rude during the entire incidence. Discover card may have changed their business practice after all these years. I will look into Costco Amex since I already have a VISA card. For the Costco Amex cardholders, do you eve have problems with their service? As a side note, my Visa card is issued by Nordstorm. Their customer service is impacable. They give rebate in Nordstom notes, I will definately keep the card. Considering a new card is that I am looking for cash rebate option other than store specific rebate.

10% of purchase price is a good rule of thumb. worth it? depending on the type of problem. I have a 5 yr old Trane DF with ext warranty. No problems so I have not needed the ext warranty....yet. I really think if you do good yrly PMs, then the ext warranty may not be necessary. TD

Pitflyer, thank you for your comments. The two stage you have would definately bump up the price. I previously was looking at Bryant's preferred two stage and the quote was several hundred dollars higher, but that a/c did not communicate to the Evolution thermidistat and since then, for a couple of reasons, decided on a one stage and wanted to go with a evolution a/c. So your quote might not be that far off from mine. I really appreciate your feedback. Everyone wants a good deal and I am hoping I have one. The contractor is a new business and is hungry. He has 25 yrs HVAC experience and his master's. No complaints or problems on BBB. I'm going to get a couple of references first though. He is going to throw in a filter. He said it comes with a filter cabinet. Funny you should mention the first year service part being free. I was planning on negotiating for that as well. Tiger, I will indeed ask for the latest thermidistat! I'll be so glad to get rid of this Delaware humidity. The heat is one thing. I think I could deal with it by itself. But I hate the humidity! Pitflyer, do you like your new system? Have you been able to notice a decrease in your energy consumption? Does it do well removing the humidity? The two stage should be good for that!

yes corradobrit is right, the company has to be signed up with the bryant bonus program. The system that you are looking at does not qualify for the rebate. In your case it wouldn't really worry about a rebate because you got a very good price. Bryant systems have 10yrs on parts if you sign the warranty information and send it in or if the bryant dealer sends it in electronically. Labor warranty is 1 yr. Extended labor warranty would need to go through a bryant dealer in my state of Fl we have to register with Bryant and the state of Florida to be able to offer those extended labor warranties, The price is set by the manufacture and what the dealer charges per hour. In your case the installer wouldn't be able to offer an extended labor warranty since he is not with any bryant program. When and if getting an extended warranty I would make sure it is through the manufacture and not a 3rd party insurance company no matter what brand it is.
