Now I have the itchies! My cats don't get them because they don't get out, but DH does get them on him. I have found the best way to remove them is to get good tweezers and light a match. Let the match burn until the wood is red (use a wood match, not a cardboard one) and then blow it out. Working quickly, hold the hot end of the match near the tick (with your left hand) and squeeze and *gently* pull the tick with the tweezers in your right hand (assuming you are right handed). The heat from the match will make the tick back out just enough so you can pull it out intact. This works like a charm (learned after a few infections from tick heads). With a cat you will obviously have to have someone hold the cat and the fur aside. I would wet the fur in that area also. I would clean the spot and watch it to make sure it doesn't get red, take him to the vet if it does. Nasty little beasts (the tick, not the cat!).

I have a very small wart on the inside of my left ring finger, at the first joint. Doesn't really bother me. But I have one on my left leg near the shin bone. It is flat and about the size of a dime. Doesn't bother me except in the summer when I'm wearing shorts. Looks gross, even though it is skin colored and rather smooth. I asked the dermo doc about it and he said: "leave it alone, it is just a wart!" But I want it gone. I read in the newspaper recently, the Doc who replaced Dr. Gott wrote about warts. His advice was to use duct tape, the silver, not the clear. Cover the wart with DT. Leave it 6 days. Remove it and soak and file the wart. Leave it uncovered overnight, then cover with DT in the morning. Repeat for 6 days. Do this for 6 months or until the wart is gone. Not very practical for most people. I might try it. After reading these posts I decided the Free Country jacket/coat may work for me. I had bought a new coat from Penney's last fall since my 13-year-old doubled fleece hoody; and my 15-year-old -40 rated parka could use some help between the two extremes. I went to Kohl's to check out the Free Country coats. The selection was picked over, but I then realized I was wearing my new coat - and it was a Free Country, size 2X. The one I got at Penney's back in October. Did I feel silly or what? I am 5'1" and very plump. This coat is a normal length 2X; so it comes below mid-thigh on me - and I love the length. It has a full, wide hood (not removable) that can easily cover a hat or cap along with my XL brain box! :) The coat is reversible, water resistant on one side, and fuzzy fleece on the other. There are two roomy pockets on each side plus a zippered chest pocket on the slick side. This description is from Penney's web site, and the coat is now $20 less than what I paid for mine. You don't have to snap it all the way up. There soft fleece inside and you can leave the neck opening as small or large as you wish. ...
