Flyingflower, I use wireless headphones a lot, too. From what I understand, they use a completely different technology than cell phones. The article says that cell phones have non-ionizing radiation and that's what the suspected risk is. Most wireless headphones use radio signals, so they have a little radio receiver in them. Not the same thing at all. I've searched and searched to find out if wireless headphones have that kind of radiation associated with them, and have found absolutely nothing that implies that they might. So I think we're safe on the headphones!

Jenn, I am just like you! 4 years ago I started sleeping for 16-18 hours a day, always fatigued, I would start vomiting uncontrollingly for hours on end, and I finally got fired from my job. I did get long term disability which was great (it was based on my salary PLUS tips which I made a lot of as a casino dealer and this was before the recession) but it gave me time to figure everything out. Even the Mayo clinic couldn't help me. But finally it came to light that no doctor EVER gave me a thyroid test. I had severe hypothyroidism. My levels were over 4x the highest normal range (40x the lowest) and once I got on the thyroid meds I felt great, except for the stomach. My stomach problems were diagnosed with two colonoscopies, three endoscopies, two gallblader tests (gallbladder was dead, they did surgery to take it out), and I was finally diagnosed with a hiatal hernia (behind my sternum), severe acid reflux disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I also lack an enzyme that helps digest food, so if I don't take the pill it sits there in my stomach and rots until I threw it up. So while we were looking for one disease, I had six problems. I had all the symptoms and mental attitude of a hypochondriac and could tell no one really believed my symptoms, and I hated that feeling because I don't lie. Since then, I got my job back a year ago, have doubled the amount of thyroid meds because they are helping so much but my levels still aren't low enough (getting there, last test was around 8, normal is .45 to 4.5 and I started at a 17.4!), and am on several acid reducers and digestive meds. I know that all I could talk about was my illness because that was really all I had in life at that time, but I wasn't a hypochondriac. Okay, enough about me, just sharing a similar story on why people talk about their illnesses. If it a true hypochondriac (headache = brain tumor, red spot = deadly spider bite), call them on it and say "until you get the results don't worry about it. Let's talk about something positive to keep your mind off of that". If you say that often enough they will quit coming to you for sympathy. But only do this if it is a true hypocondriach. My mom's and my relationship was damaged really beyond repair because she thought I was faking, and she called me "lazy" because I slept so much and couldn't eat certain foods (she is a great cook and teaches cooking, but she likes to use spices I can't have and still won't cook with my illnesses in mind). Like I said, if you really love and care about the person, change the subject every time until they get the hint. Tell them firmly "we are only going to talk about POSITIVE things here" and be prepared to walk away if they don't quit the "sick" talking. If it is a casual aquaintance, cut them out of your life the best you can. Not easy, but it has to be done. Jenn, let me know what happens in your case. I am really interested in this subject.

Hiya, hiya! First, Suntide, I know what you mean about your male friend. I have one, too. (he's my male best friend, actually) Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined anything more than friendship between us. I've known him for 10 years, and he's NOT the cheating kind. Neither am I. But, slowly and surely, and very very cautiously, things seem to be edging towards something more. Would I leave dh for him? You betcha. I've always told his wife what a lucky woman she is (she agrees, and 5 minutes later, forgets all about it and takes him for granted again). Plus, during the last two years I've been in search of a job with enough creative moxy to keep me inspired, plus financial muscle to keep me off welfare, so I can get a divorce. Is it stupid to get a divorce this late in life? My choices are 1) Stay Miserable and Married or 2) You Ain't Dead Yet -- Take A Chance. And yes, the cream does help. Of course, I don't know if it helps just by itself (... ladies? please chime in :-) or if it's the combination of homeopathy + cream. The only thing it's not helping, is the insomnia. And bone pain. Muscle pain? My memory-foam mattress feels as hard as a rock nowadays. I'll be laying on my side and my hip will wake me up, hurting, like it's mashed against some immoveable surface ... like concrete. Am I making any sense, or am I just burbling? %-) Cindy

Thank you for the kind words and prayers. We did go to the Mayo Clinic when he had the fist Cancer. I think we will wait until after the PET Scan and see what they find. Then may look for second opinions. We go to the Space Coast Cancer Center and have been pleased with the Doctors and the Staff. I am supposed to go to Shands,in Gainesville because I have a very bad curvature in the spine. They tell me that me because of my lung problem there is no way they can do surgery on my spine. The orthopedic doctor says it is my lungs,the lung doctors say that it is my spine. The lung doctor that says it is my spine,ordered oxygen for me. I just really wants some answers for Jim and myself.I have a very deep faith,that is why I ask for prayers.I know that I am supposed to give it to Him and not worry.After what I have gone through for the past few years,and now to hear that Jim very probably has Cancer again,it is very hard to shut off my mind. I do have friends and familly here,but I consider all of you my family too. So, I just ask for the prayers to keep going up.
