Little Bradley Will Have Surgery.........Prayers Please

Later today Bradley will have #4 surgery. This is at Mayo and it can be the make it or break it of them all.

From Bradley's Carepage:

Last night: they'll do the MRI and then off to surgery. Sure it will prob start w/ the surgery around 2pm again...just basing it off of last time. We are still waiting for the Proton Therapy to be determined but today they said they would need to see his MRI after this next surgery. If they don't get the necessary amount of tumor out on Weds decisions will have to be made...meaning how much time do we want to buy Bradley. I don't want to even think about that!!! I just pray that we don't have to even think about that and it won't even happen.

Monday: Bradley had an ultrasound done on his head today. Not sure what it told the doctors, but whatever...then we met w/ the surgeon and he did tell us that he is going to try and get the tumor from a different direction...one that does not have scar tissue surrounding it. so praying that he is successful in that decision. He of course can't give us guarantees or tell us that this surgery isn't w/out harms...he straight up said this tumor in this location is the most difficult of all surgeries. I believe we are doing half way good emotionally. I'm sure tomorrow will be a dif story. Ok...we are off to take little man swimming...i'm afraid it might be the last time for the remainder of the summer depending on how it goes. Best scenerio is he is totally unharmed and he goes home in a week. Pray that is how it shall go. Then he can have other fun days in the sun:)

PLEASE send up a prayer or think good thoughts or have positive energy for little Bradley and his family AND the medical staff today!

I am soooo very sorry for what this precious little guy and his family are going through. Of course prayers are being sent for a good and healing outcome of this surgery and recovery. Dottie

Chris (dad) works for Perkins Co. He has been off of work for almost the whole 3 weeks. They are a young family with 3 other (5,4, 6mth) children at home. They have bills that still need to be paid, and a mortgage. Angie has to go back to Wells Fargo for 30 hours...which she is hoping she will be able to do on the 2 days that Chris is off work...as she holds the insurance for the family. My DD works with Angie, and it sounds like they are pretty much letting her do what she can/when she can. There are numerous fund raisers (bracelets, shirts, chili supper and silent auction) and collection pots in areas around them. They have a wonderful Church family that is really helping out....and they are very blessed that they have both parents and at least 1 sibling living in their same town. They have good insurance, but with 3 brain surgery's..so far!... and 3 weeks in ICU they will have alot of bills. I know alot has been donated just through cards...but as Angie stated, it is being used for just day to day living mostly at this point. This might answer some of your questions. I know that it was the hardest thing for Chris to go back to work, and it will be heartbreaking for Angie as she hasn't left Bradley's side for more than a couple of hours. Just sad, sad situation that needs some mighty big miracles....but as the Dr. told them after the 2nd surgery....we didn't expect him to still be with us at this point! They are all very impressed with how strong Bradley is. KEEP PRAYING!!! Thank you!!!!!

I got this update just a while ago: he is in pain Posted 1 hour ago imagine that if you will...he's back to grinding his teeth. He barely opened his eyes a little. Chris noticed when he was crying he isn't using the left side of his face...we haven't really seen him move the left side of his body. Obviously it's early on to tell but they did notify the docs. Praying that this is not the case. hoping it's just the swelling and nothing more to it. He's too cute and innocent to be affected by this...please don't let there be deficits that can't be resolved in time!!! He doesn't need that! Kids can be mean when he is older and it brings tears to my eyes now to even think that they could be mean to him. He's been through hell. Chris is trying to make light of it and say he'll talk like Sylvestor Stallone. Anyways, the fam just got here. I'll talk to you soon.

Just got this email: the doctor got the bulk of the tumor and there were some crevices that it started to grow in that he scraped so there are some remaining cancer cells. he said he didn't cut thru anything major so he's hoping that if he has any peralysis that it will be temporary. they are stitching him up right now and they are hoping that he doesn't have to go to icu but that has yet to be determined. so the goal right now is to get him better asap and get the radiation started to kill off the cancer cells that remained. the doctor noted that it did not grow back in the brain. he said it was kind of funny that right where the proton therapy ended the tumor began. he said the proton must have worked! so amazing.

Bradley is in my prayers every night. I'm hoping for the very best outcome - a cancer-free Bradley!

Prayers for Bradley's mom and dad too. This has to be so very hard on them.

I should maybe explain a little background on Bradley.

He is 2 years old and has a rare brain tumor that is close to all the major 'stuff' by the spinal column. He has had 3 previous surgeries, first to relieve pressure, 2nd to see what they could get and 3rd to see if they could get more of the tumor.

They are now at Mayo where they are going to try a different surgery to see what they can get off the tumor. And then they will see what goes on after that.

Chris just wrote on his Facebook that they "all got a really great nights sleep last night...which was a first in many months". Starting off with a good start should help everyone! :)

My DD Kalie works with Bradley's mom at Wells Fargo in Des Moines.

This is an awful ordeal for the whole family. CarePages is a wonderful help. I know about it because a relative's three-year-old has been fighting cancer (a neuroblastoma) for over a year.

Bradley is in my Prayers and so is his Family! This has to be so hard on them! I Pray the results of THIS surgery will be a cancer-free Bradley!!

I've been checking in on Bradley's care page since the beginning. Just breaks my heart to hear all he and his family is going through.

Jody, they are at Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota, so it is only about 3.5 hours away.

He is still in surgery as of 9:00 pm CT...and they expect a couple more hours.

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts for his little boy and his family.
