I mostly specialize in aquatics but am looking to expand my terrestrial collection, so I'd be happy to swap with you. :) Among my pond/aquatic collection are: MARGINALS: Graceful cattail (Typha laxmannii)--"hardy Variegated Sweet Flag (Acorus calamus 'Variegata')--"hardy White Zephyr Lily (Zephyranthes candida)--"not hardy unless you're down south Lizard's Tail (Saururus cernuus)--"tender perennial here in the north, hardy in the south. Arrowhead Plant (Sagittaria sp.)--"hardy Golden creeping jenny (Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea') Mint Charlie (Clinopodium brownei) (not hardy unless you're down south, this plant is EDIBLE and has a lovely mint flavor) Ammannia mauritiana (pretty pink flowers and red stems)--"Tropical (Seeds only right now) Might also be able to track down a rush of some sort (Juncus or Scirpus) if I poke around my tubs. SUBMERSED (oxygenators): Hornwort/coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum) Eel grass (Vallisneria spiralis) ...I probably have more that I'm not thinking of at the moment. My collection is more geared toward aquarium species than pond species, but there is, as one might expect, a great deal of overlap involved. Shoot me an email if anything catches your attention! :)

The relevant quote is: "A veterinarian may not be the best source of information on what causes human medical complaints." Bottom line is there's a lack of evidence fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome are caused by parasites. There is a belief among some that a whole host of diseases and deleterious symptoms are caused by hidden parasites, and a cottage industry has grown up around selling books, devices and supplements to people who believe they are so afflicted. Sometimes (because reputable physicians won't prescribe anti-parasitic drugs to them) they buy potentially dangerous animal drugs. Various organisms get blamed - from the ever-popular Candida (a part of our natural flora) to the liver fluke (devotees of the late Hulda Clark believed her claim that this fluke was the cause of all cancers, and bought electric "zappers" in an attempt to kill the flukes and thus "zap" away their tumors). Just as people should consider alternatives before using expensive and potentially hazardous prescription drugs for fibromyalgia, they should also think twice about diving into antiparasitic drugs (which have their risky aspects too) for conditions that have no demonstrated connection to parasites. *I've never heard of any animal version of CFS or fibromyalgia, but maybe someone here can clarify matters.

Welcome! I can't give you much advice on veggies and berries, I've only been gardening for a couple years. Having good soil, the right varieties and planting at the right time all go a long way to success. I'm still trying to figure it all out myself! The texas coop extension has some great handouts to look over. Here is their website http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu I CAN tell you to go check out the exchange pages. There will be a plant swap in Fort Worth and in Denton (pending location), both to be held in April. The plant swap last year was my budget saver. I "think" there are some people that are going to be bringing vegetable plants...Take some time to think about the things you would like to grow and then let us know what you would like. Someone is sure to have some things to help you get started. Also, I don't know if you have heard of "no-till" or "lasagna gardening" but I would encourage you to read up on it a little bit. Not only is it a frugal way to build some great garden beds but it would also help you get them started without killing yourself physically. Winter-sowing is an easy and frugal way to get some seeds started without having to set up an expensive indoor light system. I'm trying it for the first time this year and so far have been pleased with the results. I wish you the best of luck with your gardening adventures and welcome to this forum.
