I'm sorry for not answering sooner; had to go away over the weekend. First, let me thank the two of you for introducing me to CCleaner. I downloaded it and expect to find it useful. I'll explain what I did in detail, just in case anyone else ever has the same problem. After getting back last night, I was successful in saving images in IE, but FireFox was still no good. Figuring it was something wrong with FF, I found a disturbing entry in FF's Tools>Error Console, calling a certain path in the computer "Not well-formed," but there was no explanation of how to deal with it. Removing FireFox via the Control Panel and reinstalling it did no good, nor did disabling all my add-ons and deleting temp files and cache. In the end, getting desperate, I backed up the Bookmarks and Scrapbook folders in my FF Profile, then I went to C:\Documents and Settings\[my user name]\Application Data\Mozilla, and deleted the entire Mozilla folder so as to force the new FF install to create a new one. This time, the new FF--though all my Bookmarks, Scrapbook add-on entries, and all the other add-ons I used to have were gone--worked right, and I was able to capture pictures again. I re-downloaded all the extension add-ons I had had before, and now everything is fine. At first, of course, my Bookmarks toolbar was gone, and I use it constantly, so that was a bit scary, but after moving the backup folder from the CD to my FF Profile folder, I got the toolbar back, and I was able to do the same thing for all my Scrapbook entries. If anyone else tries this, be sure to make a backup of your Bookmarks and Scrapbook (if you have that add-on) and also make a list of your add-ons and be sure you have a record of all the passwords FireFox has been remembering for you. Happy, happy, happy!

I just figured it out: Internet Explorer Saves Images As Bitmaps (.bmp Files) Applies To SUMMARY When you save an image in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the image is saved by default as a bitmap (.bmp). You do not have the option to save the image by using an extension other than .bmp. You experience this behavior even when the image uses a different format (such as .gif or .jpeg). For example, when you right-click an image on a Web page, and then click Save Picture As, the file name that appears in the File name box is Untitled, and the file type that appears in the Save as type box is Bitmap (*.bmp). CAUSE This behavior may occur if a damaged program file (for example, an ActiveX or Java object) is downloaded to the SystemRoot\Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk. RESOLUTION To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder, and then delete the files in the Downloaded Program Files folder that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so: Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started). Empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder. To do so: On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the General tab. Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files. When you are prompted to delete all temporary Internet files, click OK. In the Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk, remove the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so: On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the General tab. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings. Click View Objects. The list of program files that are downloaded to the SystemRoot\Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk appears in the Downloaded Program Files window. In the Status column, note the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. Remove these files. To do so, right-click the file, and then click Remove. When you are prompted to confirm the removal, click Yes. Close the Downloaded Program Files window, and then click OK two times. Save an image in Internet Explorer to test and determine if the issue is resolved. If the issue continues to occur after you remove all downloaded program files that are listed as Unknown or Damaged, try removing the other downloaded program files that are on the list. Note: The next time that you need one of the files that you removed from the Downloaded Program Files folder, you will receive a prompt to download the file to your hard disk in Internet Explorer. If its a color problem you are having, it may be your monitor. If the image color appears good on your camera's view screen (or other device), but, faded or way off balance on your monitor screen, most likely, you monitor's color palate needs adjusting. The monitor must be making a proper color display before it can be used to edit/adjust your photo images, else what you see on the screen will not be what you see on your printer output. Expect some saturation differences in the printed output compared to the monitor screen. If your installed software and drivers do not supply standard color bars, then use a word processor. Adjust the font for bold and large size. Type several lines of text. Next using the controls in the word processor, set parts of the text to solid colors such as red, green, and blue - no pastels. Make monitor adjustments until these 3 colors are satisfactory. If your monitor is driven by a video card, the card may have software for adjusting the monitor and card. By the way, are you red-green color blind? If so, get someone to help with the color adjustments.

Jane, If you go to the White Windows Icon in the Taskbar (Lower Left Corner) and Right Click, you'll get a list, Device Manager will be in that List (Control Panel will also be in this list). You could also just Left Click on the White Windows Icon and click in a Blank Space then just start typing Device Manager and a List should pop up with Device manager towards the top of the list You can also get to Control Panel using this method)! Device Manager can also be found by going into Control Panel and the Device Manager Icon will be there in Alphabetic Order. The Printer Information will be Listed in Control Panel in the Devices and Printers Icon! It doesn't show up in the This PC Area any longer! In the Lower Right corner you'll find the information Center Icon. This Icon will be all White if there is information to view. The printer information may have been listed under the Information Icon. You only need to Click on the Icon to View the available Information. Below is a Picture showing the Information Icon (circled in red).
