I lost my Mum, my best friend! :(

Condolences to everyone, I'm 19 years old and i just lost my mother 3 days ago. She was suffering from diabetics that left a wound on her leg which was so bad. At last her heart failed on her and she was gone. Noone was beside her. Knowing that she is not suffering anymore and at her better places does make me happy.

But she was my best friend, the only person i could talk to about my sad and happy moments. Now that she is gone, my eldest brother is giving so much problem, and also my girlfriend just doesn't understand what i am going throught and is starting fights with me. I have noone to go to. I am so lost right now.

Honey, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I lost my mom 9 years ago, when I was 40 and it has been the hardest thing for me. To be so young must be especially difficult. You are going to grieve for a very long time. Do not be surprised at how this knocks the wind out you.

I would suggest that you seek out a group or a Pastor or counselor to help you talk this out. You need someone.

Family members have a way of acting like jerks at a time like this. It can really bring out the worst in people. I don't know if it is their way of coping with their loss or if they are trying to avoid dealing with it. Just try to remember that your brother has lost his mom too and he is suffering.

Your girlfriend has no idea what you are going through and she probable feels so unable to help you that she really can't deal with it. I'm sure that she is very sorry and loves you dearly but just may not be able to handle it.

I remember when my mom died feeling that I was an orphan. My dad had died just 14 months before that and I realized that I no longer was any one's child. It is a very lonely feeling and my faith in God was the only comfort that I had. Even with that it has been a long journey for me.

Make sure that you take really good care of yourself. Eat right, don't be surprised if you want to sleep a lot and get out in the world. Don't shut yourself off.

Grief is something that has a life of it's own. You cannot control how long you will grieve or to what degree. It will come when you least expect it. I always said that for me it was like Grief had come into my life, pulled up a chair and sat down and just stayed there.

If you have a woman in your life that you can talk to, someone that you look up to and respect, seek her out and talk to her. She will be a good source of comfort and strength for you.

I lost my mother over two years ago to cancer. I found this forum last night, and cried my heart out I think for the first time since she passed. Reading others posts and knowing that there are people out there dealing with the same emotions is comforting. If you can't find a support group or a friend who understands, then please feel free to share it with everyone on this forum. People just don't understand until they are in your shoes, so don't pay any attention to what they say - I truly think they just don't get it. When my Mom was sick, my MIL (to-be) would come over to my house and remark that my house was too messy. Can you believe that? I was appalled that anyone would think that sitting at home cleaning my house was more important than spending time with my sick mother, knowing her days were numbered. I'm still bitter about it, and probably always will be, but honestly, I love my MIL and all I can say is some people just don't get it. I think you and I have bigger hearts than most, and that's the only way I can find logic with such ungodly insensitive behavior. I have cats and dogs, and sometimes, I think animals are better companions at times like this. Whenever I am feeling sad, my animals KNOW it, and they never let me down. I know it may seem difficult to do, but I dug out a lot of old pics of my Mom and seeing her in those "happy" moments makes me feel better. It helps me think about what I had when we were together instead of dwelling on what I've lost. I hope that makes sense. Carry those happy memories in your heart - it's what she would want you to remember, and in that way, she is still there with you every day. My heart goes out to you and I am sorry for your loss. My mother passed away April 13th 2022. she raised me and my sister, as a single mother. she worked 2 jobs to ptovide for us, but we took her for granted as children. When the mother of my 2 children passed away in 2016, my mother moved in with us. My mother helped raise my daughter(16 now) and my son(15 now) for almost a decade. My mother was more than just my best friend, she was my only friend. i have complex PTSD, and she was the only one that i trusted enough to talk about the war with… she went with me to the VA, when i had to. she gave me strength, she always seemed to understand things that other people either couldnt or didnt want to understand… my dog died about a month before my mother did… 2022 has taken a lot from me and my 2 children… they saw her as a mother, as much as me… i go from feeling numb to feeling deep sadness and loss… i don‘t want to give up, but i always needed her support. she died from cancer, after being on immunotherapy for 2 years… she suffered from many side effects, for most of her treatment. she became so thin near the end that it was painful to see her like that… i was with her until the end, and it may sound strange but i held her for some time after she died and just sobbed onto her… i talk to her still thst she is dead for months, but i still wake up thinking that she is alive… i beli my mother is in heaven, but selfishly i just want my mom back… i miss my only friend… i miss the only selfless person that i ever met… i feel so empty, and i did not think that id feel so lost… she gave me direction when i didnt know what to do… i hope this posts, it does give comfort to know that i am not a

Viola Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dad 10 months ago. He was 68 and I was 34. I think the same way that you are. It will be hard to go through life for the next 30-40 years without dad. My dad helped me out with watching my kids while I worked. He was such a great dad. I miss him horribly. Everything you are feeling is normal. It doesnt seem fair and at times the sorrow cuts like a knife deep inside my heart. Then I get so mad that he died. I guess all these feelings are normal. Your life will never be the same again, something just changes when you lose someone you love. When I lost my dad I felt so alone and realized wow its really time to grow up now because when mom and dad are still here, a part of you stays there little girl. There is no easy answer. Just try to keep yourself busy and cry when you need to. Talking to other people who are going through similiar thing helps me. I dont like going around people who still have there parents. I guess I am jealous, not sure,. In the end we will be reunited again. My prayers are coming your way. Keep posting

Thank you all for your sympathy. It wasn't a total shock, and I guess it's a blessing. If this would have happened five years ago in an accident, I would be reeling. But as sad as it is for me and all her family and friends, it's a blessing. She was a super intelligent woman who taught advanced math and physics and was healthy as a horse. . She was knocked over by her 180 pound mastiff dog almost five years ago and suffered a concussion and subdural hematoma. From that point she slowly began to deteriorate. She started using a walker, then when she called me ,her speech would be so slurred I could not understand her. The next time I saw her, she was in a wheelchair and her daughter was feeding her baby food. She has been in a nursing home for the past 18 months since she required so much care. Her mind was as sharp as ever, but she could not speak. She blinked once for yes, twice for no. She had a feeding tube since last summer. So she's at peace now. The funeral is Friday. I'm wondering if the messy weather here will postpone it.
