Happy Friday.

Just taking a break and thought I would say hello to everyone. I am on the final stretch of stripping 68 rolls of wallpaper at the new house. I found an old receipt from the previous owners so I know how much paper was put up. I hope to start the priming and painting by Monday. No plans for the weekend except for the stripping. Who knew that at the age of 52 I would become a stripper. LOL. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good luck with the stripping! LOL!

I ma taking a quick break from cold calling for my DH. After that I will be food shopping and prepping the kid food for the Confirmaiton party tomorrow.... There is a meeting of the Hosta Society tomorrow (cant wait, plant sale too!) and then then confirmaiton party and brunch with friends on Sunday!

I have no plans this weekend....believe it or not....it's been a busy week....so I plan to try to get caught up with laundry and such.

Hi all! Welcome, Debi! :):) Patti & Dave, CONGRATS on your DGD! How exciting! :) Tikanas, we sell Derby related jewelry and we make rhinestone encrusted sunglasses to custom match the lady's Derby attire. Lot's of fun, and I get to see some spectacular clothes! :) How did the treatment go today? Shoes. Oh, my. I have such a shoe fetish! Unfortunately, my feet are short and wide (kinda like me!! LOL), so most shoes do not look good on me. Doesn't stop me from wandering and drooling in the shoe department though. I tried on a $850 pair of Stuart Weizman (sp) last year (Derby shoes), and as I stood there in them, I wondered just what exactly one would wear with them. Which then brought the thought of what car you'd have to step out with them on (Mercedes? Jag? what?). Would I actually *walk* in them? That would be no, and then I'd hafta hire some hottie to carry me around all day. And then another one to fan me, and yet another hottie to feed me grapes. So, I figured after all of that, the shoes would actually cost me about $110,850. LOL! I do love my shoes! :) Things are the same here--yesterday was MIL's birthday and she was sooooooo sick (insert **much** eyerolling here) that she couldn't get up from the couch to take Rog's cal to her. (Yes, I know I sound heartless, but I have little sympathy for someone with the means and insurance to go to any doctor/hospital in the world, but would rather play the marytr part and sit and whine.) Where's Amy?? Gretchen? Happyto? (I've come to the conclusion that BJ actually did win the lottery and has ran away. On a serious note, I do know that her dad was under the weather for a while, so I hope there is nothing bad with him that's keeping her away.) Zig--*only* if a stapler was involved!!! LMAO! Speaking of chicken (I am *truly* sick for attempting this), I am making chicken cacatorrie (sp) on Sunday. I watch Giada on Everyday Italian on FoodTV, and this just looks so good! (And yes, for inquiring minds, I do have my heavy duty carpet stapler handy, should it be required. That, and the # of the local take-out joint if I screw this up! LOL) Hugs, Maddie

I guess it's part of the illness, but she sends herself into a panic and a depression whenever all of our lives get busy at the same time and then she thinks she's dying. My inlaws were here last weekend, and my DB was busy putting in new countertops and my aunt left on vacation. So, no visits for 2 days straight and then we get the phone call that she has decided she wants to go back to the hospital...sigh. A new dr at the ER looks at xrays of her very compromised lungs and decides she has pneumonia and admits her. sigh. So, I am off to visit. sigh. :-) Stacy

It's hot here too, my inground pool has water that's hovering in the high 80s to around 90, not very refreshing but better than nothing. Lars, Elery had a hot tub which was nice in the winter but we never used it any other time, so he sold it to his son. It felt really good to run outside in the snow and then jump into that hot tub though. I'll be watching for pictures of your yard work! David, I hope you get your pickles canned. I ought to be canning here already, but it's just too darned hot. Alexa, enjoy the cars and the music. Diane, TWO weddings in one day? Wow. I agree, though, double cake! Wow, Melissa, what a great haul of blackberries. Put them in the freezer and make jam later, though. Even as far north as here in Michigan the temps are in the 90s in the day, 70s at night. It's just weird. shaun, congratulations to your son! Gina, I'd also like to see how your renovations are going, I'll bet they're beautiful. Grace, good luck with that move. And homemade blueberry liquor? How do you make THAT and what do you do with it? Here I watched my niece and namesake, Angel, win a blue ribbon at the county fair for Western Pleasure, another blue for English something-or-another, a blue in barrel racing and a second place in flags. It was fun, she's 12. We made a side trip to the local farm market and bought red potatoes, corn on the cob, parsnips, beets, some SunGold tomatoes and a pint of fresh raspberries that we ate on the way home to save ourselves from having to make dessert, LOL. Elery is here, tomorrow he's going to finish painting the house while I go to the farm to run the rototiller and pick beans. I think Amanda and Dave are going to bring the kids for a cookout and a swim in the pool later in the day, we'll start working early in the morning to miss the heat, it's supposed to be hot again tomorrow. Stick to your guns Susie. I can feel your tension and hope you take good care of yourself. You will never be there for mom if you don't attend to your needs first. Being healthy and strong allows you to give more with less effort. Sounds like your mom is throwing a guilt trip at you so shrug it off. So hard when you want to help someone and they turn good intentions against you. Moms good luck with all those children... hope the sicky ones recover, those to be come healthy, and those that hope find their dreams. I didn't post yesterday as I was on the road for hours. My alma matter had invited me to attend a lunch/lecture/ and what was probably a wake. A dear departed "sociological technologist" was appreciated with a presentation of his final study given by one of his associates. Lunch was steak strips with a fancy peppery sauce. My table was joined by three beautiful current students happy to enjoy a free lunch. I couldn't hear those across the table from me but the young lady next to me was excited about pursuing a career in enviromental law. We had an alumni at the table currently working in that field so the talk was hot and heavy about what law school might be a good choice. The study was presented after lunch and was about the Internet habits of young people. It looked at the integration of technology into the social lives of high school students... facebook, my space, and creative outlets. Later we met in a quiet room of mostly faculty and memories of the late 60's and 70's and the school's founding were shared by those who were at the scene of the crime. Then we got down to business with cocktails and a connection time. I was a bit of an oddity because most students are fairly wealthy and go on to graduate programs and fancy careers. The college has some intest in using me as an example of what can be done with a liberal arts education without law school. They like that I was able to reinvent myself over and over to meet the challenges of my life. For awhile I sat with the Dean and drunkenly bent his ear about skills I've found critical but aquired after school. I stopped for a burger at a the Harrison Roadhouse which is just off campus and sobered up for the long drive home. For me drunk is about three drinks these days so an hour and food was plenty to get me on my way. I so needed that touching back with a place and people that gave me my adult life. Back to work today. A pocket full of business cards and head full of projects. : ) lyra

So we now have a stripper and a hooker on the forum? Talk about diversity! LOL

I don't envy you at all, Linda. Stripping wallpaper is one of the "unfunnest" jobs I can think of. And I'll have to do it soon in my upstairs bathroom...UGH!

Alexa, you have a full plate this weekend (nice segue to food, huh?). Have fun!

I am going to celebrate my new job...somehow, somewhere and with someone. Just haven't figured out how, where or with whom yet!

Happy Friday, I'll definitely be clinking with something good tonight!

TGIF, everybody!

Linda, ugh...wallpaper stripping. Good luck with that. Big job. Messy also. Keep focused on your vision for the finish & the fun of watching the new paint transform that room.

Alexa, I'm so ready to spend time in the garden. Enjoy the hosta meeting. My early birds are just popping the ground. We've had good precipitation so I'm expecting some good growth this year, hoping anyway. Enjoy the confirmation party.

We BBQ'd last night & have leftovers for dinner tonight. Housecleaning happening today.

The BIG news here is that we got a conference call from our daughters last night. We'd been on pins & needles for a couple days wondering what was happening. I was just assuming it was a joint Happy BD a couple weeks early for DH. Nope, but it was about birthdays. BOTH of our daughters are pregnant!!! :))

DD#1 is due October 24. They've been trying for about 3 years. She's irregular & it just wasn't happening. She was at the doctor a week ago today & it's official. This will be her second child. DD#1 became pregnant when she was 15 & gave birth at 16 (our first grandson). DGS#1 is now 18 & just finished high school hoping to get into the USCG. Our daughter did not marry her son's father (thank goodness!). Anyway, she's married now to a great guy who wants this baby as badly as she does. We're delighted for them. DGS#1 also seem excited.

DD#2 has been married about 7 years. She had a miscarriage a couple years ago. Then, about a year ago her husband lost his job. He was manager of several electronic stores. The entire company filed Chapter 11 late '09. He's not been able to find another job yet. :( Nevertheless, babies don't care about such things & we're all delighted. This is DD#2's first child. She's due September 10.

So, we've got grandbabies #5 & #6 coming within six weeks of each other & in time for the Holiday season.

This weekend, I want to go shopping for baby stuff! We've got a wonderful baby store here in town. I can hardly wait for DH to finish up some stuff he promised the law firm he's working with so we can go look for cuddly baby blankets, etc.

This is a happy weekend in our house!

Linda, have fun being a stripper!

Alexa, sounds like a good weekend. I love hosta's, wish there was a group having a plant sale around here.

The only thing on our weekend schedule is a going away party. Should be fun, it's all about Italian cooking and everyone attending likes to cook. The hostess has a fabulous new kitchen so, I'm taking my camera.

Tricia, that is great news! Babies are such fun.
Three Lindas, enjoy the stripping, the celebrating and the catching up.
Alexa, have fun with the hosta meeting; spring is really advanced here for this date. We got the shrub roses pruned just in time.

Me, I'll be here doing medical paperwork and taxes. Ugh.

Here? I'm Easter Egg hunting at the old folks' home. Yeah, really. The local nursing home has a yearly Easter Egg hunt for the kids, everyone has a ball, so The Princess is putting on her bunny ears and Bruvver is tagging along. They have games and activities and crafts and candy and egg hunting, so that'll be fun and the residents have more fun than the kids, I swear they do!

After that I have fences to walk, check on the deer damage from the winter and list the repairs that need to be made.

Sunday it's supposed to rain, Elery gets off his 12 hour weekend shifts and so while he's napping, maybe I'll bake something.

Woah! Almost missed this one.

Linda, you and I are now kindred spirits as pointed out by other Linda! I intend to spend the weekend hooking while you are stripping!

Alexa , enjoy the meeting and the show. If you ever get up here I have about 100 or so Hostas that I'd love to share with you. Got some very special ones that need splitting. Also will take you to a Hosta nursery that will blow your mind...and your pocketbook! LOL

Annie, I recall "kid day" at the home my DDMIL was in...the old folk came alive watching and talking to the little ones. They actually opened a day care centre in the home she was in. Good medicine all the way 'round.

Nothing much happening here. Clive wants to go back to the cottage for a few days. I'm OK with "big time here and big time there" but not so fond of a "few days here and few days there". I already know I'll agree to go because it seems so important to him. You know how that one goes ladies.

Listen to me complaining when I am so damned blessed. I should be ashamed of myself......but I'm not! LOL
