Happy Friday.

Just taking a break and thought I would say hello to everyone. I am on the final stretch of stripping 68 rolls of wallpaper at the new house. I found an old receipt from the previous owners so I know how much paper was put up. I hope to start the priming and painting by Monday. No plans for the weekend except for the stripping. Who knew that at the age of 52 I would become a stripper. LOL. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good luck with the stripping! LOL!

I ma taking a quick break from cold calling for my DH. After that I will be food shopping and prepping the kid food for the Confirmaiton party tomorrow.... There is a meeting of the Hosta Society tomorrow (cant wait, plant sale too!) and then then confirmaiton party and brunch with friends on Sunday!

I have no plans this weekend....believe it or not....it's been a busy week....so I plan to try to get caught up with laundry and such.

The garden season starts pretty early here. The average frost free date here in Gainesville is March 10, but we typically get at least one cold dip between March 10 and March 31. Our local ig Spring Fest that draws about 4000 people over 2 days is usually the last weekend in March, but also the last weekend is the Leu Gardens Dale in Orlando, the annual Tropiflora sale April 5, the FSU Spring sale April 12, and the Mounts spring sale April 26. There's also a local plant swap I may attend on April 19. A lot start over in June for the "summer" round, and then in October/November there's a "fall" round. These local sales and swaps are where I get most of my very best plants of all types, not just Hoyas. I agree, we are very lucky here. It'd be worth a vacation for you to come to some, LOL.

I guess it's part of the illness, but she sends herself into a panic and a depression whenever all of our lives get busy at the same time and then she thinks she's dying. My inlaws were here last weekend, and my DB was busy putting in new countertops and my aunt left on vacation. So, no visits for 2 days straight and then we get the phone call that she has decided she wants to go back to the hospital...sigh. A new dr at the ER looks at xrays of her very compromised lungs and decides she has pneumonia and admits her. sigh. So, I am off to visit. sigh. :-) Stacy

A friend of mine sent me this recipe, and she makes them. She's never baked them in the microwave. I doubt if I would either because I wouldn't bake just one, but it might be worth a try. It sure would be a handy dough to have on hand. Refrigerator Applesauce Wheat Muffins Favorite Recipes --The Muffin Cookbook Mix up this batter and refrigerate in a tightly covered plastic bowl. If you cook for one, you can scoop out batter for one muffin at a time. Bake in the microwave oven for 30 to 50 seconds, or in conventional oven. 3/4 cup All-purpose Flour 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp Salt 1 cup Quick-cooking Rolled Oats 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar 1 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Baking Soda 3/4 cup Buttermilk 1/4 cup Applesauce 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup Raisins Directions: In large bowl, combine flours, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. In small bowl, combine buttermilk, applesauce, oil and egg until blended. Stir into flour mixture just until moistened. Fold in raisins. Cover and refrigerate overnight or up to 10 days. Microwave: Line 6 microwavable muffin-pan cups with double paper liners. Spoon batter into each cup filling 1/2 full. Microwave at HIGH (100%) power, 3 to 3 1/2 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Rotate dish 1/2 turn halfway thru cooking. Let stand 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Repeat procedure. For last 3 muffins, line 3 muffin cups with double paper liners. Microwave at HIGH 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Makes about 15 muffins. Conventional: Preheat oven to 400 F. Grease or paper-line 12 (2 1/2 inch) muffin cups. Spoon batter into cups. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean Makes 12 muffins. Note: Have never cooked in the Microwave

Ooops...I started a tgif thread too...GMTA!!! well I will copy and paste here and let the moderators delete my thread. Happy Friday and Happy Graduation to all our forum friends attending graduations and grad parties! Today is supposed to begin a heat wave here in Philly! High 90's for the next few days! YIKES!!! Its so nice out now...just came in for another little cup of joe. I was out admiring the handy work of a few wayward teens. They were bored I guess and they decided it would be so much fun to try to rip down the neighbors railroad tie retaining wall, What they could not rip down they wrote all over with sharpies. I was at work so I did not see anything but I know who it was....there is a bad element here-I suppose most blocks have some sort of problems like this. I think it may be time to take over the block captain job again-the lady who took over for me is not doing a good job-in fact one of her kids is involved with the bad element. On another note...today is Drews last exam. He has short days next week and done on Friday. I will be SO happy to see this year end!! I didn't post too much about it but its been a terrible year for Drew. He just didn't seem to adjust to high school life and my one time honor student is barely passing. Frank and I have been pulling our hair out trying to help him but he is just not motivated. Hopefully after having summer off he'll start 10th grade with a better attitude! Amy and I will hit the gym while he takes his last 2 tests. I am going to try to get my hair cut today too. My "girl" has gone out on early maternity leave so for this cut I may just go to a hair cuttery type place for a trim. Her baby is due in July so I'll have to have another trim befor she returns in Sept-Oct. Tonight I was invited to see my co-worker off to his prom. A co workers prom you ask?? Yes a prom! Theres a young boy who is really a cool kid. Turn out he is Charles BEST friend!! so my co worker is taking Charles sister (my great step neice) to the prom!! Charles does not want to go-more on that later. After that I was invited to a jewelry demonstration. I do not wear a lot of jewelry but I'll go and see...maybe I will get a jump start on holiday shopping?? Tomorrow I have to work early but I also get done early which is good as its the block clean up and I need to be here LOL!! Someone has to talk some sense into these people! LOL!! No really the block needs a good cleaning and we as a community have to work together to make this a safe neighborhood. Tomorrow night Frank and I are going out to dinner...nothing to celebrate really, well maybe celebrate just getting thru the past year LOL!! Sunday is Pocono Race day. The guys get up before the crack of dawn and set up camp on the infield of the Pocono Racetrack and watch the race. I went once and vowed to never go again!! LOL Its LOUD!! However I do help him get ready so he doesn't forget anything. I will no doubt have to work but I will treat myself to something sinful for dinner!! I don't envy you at all, Linda. Stripping wallpaper is one of the "unfunnest" jobs I can think of. And I'll have to do it soon in my upstairs bathroom...UGH!

Alexa, you have a full plate this weekend (nice segue to food, huh?). Have fun!

I am going to celebrate my new job...somehow, somewhere and with someone. Just haven't figured out how, where or with whom yet!

Happy Friday, I'll definitely be clinking with something good tonight!

TGIF, everybody!

Linda, ugh...wallpaper stripping. Good luck with that. Big job. Messy also. Keep focused on your vision for the finish & the fun of watching the new paint transform that room.

Alexa, I'm so ready to spend time in the garden. Enjoy the hosta meeting. My early birds are just popping the ground. We've had good precipitation so I'm expecting some good growth this year, hoping anyway. Enjoy the confirmation party.

We BBQ'd last night & have leftovers for dinner tonight. Housecleaning happening today.

The BIG news here is that we got a conference call from our daughters last night. We'd been on pins & needles for a couple days wondering what was happening. I was just assuming it was a joint Happy BD a couple weeks early for DH. Nope, but it was about birthdays. BOTH of our daughters are pregnant!!! :))

DD#1 is due October 24. They've been trying for about 3 years. She's irregular & it just wasn't happening. She was at the doctor a week ago today & it's official. This will be her second child. DD#1 became pregnant when she was 15 & gave birth at 16 (our first grandson). DGS#1 is now 18 & just finished high school hoping to get into the USCG. Our daughter did not marry her son's father (thank goodness!). Anyway, she's married now to a great guy who wants this baby as badly as she does. We're delighted for them. DGS#1 also seem excited.

DD#2 has been married about 7 years. She had a miscarriage a couple years ago. Then, about a year ago her husband lost his job. He was manager of several electronic stores. The entire company filed Chapter 11 late '09. He's not been able to find another job yet. :( Nevertheless, babies don't care about such things & we're all delighted. This is DD#2's first child. She's due September 10.

So, we've got grandbabies #5 & #6 coming within six weeks of each other & in time for the Holiday season.

This weekend, I want to go shopping for baby stuff! We've got a wonderful baby store here in town. I can hardly wait for DH to finish up some stuff he promised the law firm he's working with so we can go look for cuddly baby blankets, etc.

This is a happy weekend in our house!

Linda, have fun being a stripper!

Alexa, sounds like a good weekend. I love hosta's, wish there was a group having a plant sale around here.

The only thing on our weekend schedule is a going away party. Should be fun, it's all about Italian cooking and everyone attending likes to cook. The hostess has a fabulous new kitchen so, I'm taking my camera.

Tricia, that is great news! Babies are such fun.
Three Lindas, enjoy the stripping, the celebrating and the catching up.
Alexa, have fun with the hosta meeting; spring is really advanced here for this date. We got the shrub roses pruned just in time.

Me, I'll be here doing medical paperwork and taxes. Ugh.

Here? I'm Easter Egg hunting at the old folks' home. Yeah, really. The local nursing home has a yearly Easter Egg hunt for the kids, everyone has a ball, so The Princess is putting on her bunny ears and Bruvver is tagging along. They have games and activities and crafts and candy and egg hunting, so that'll be fun and the residents have more fun than the kids, I swear they do!

After that I have fences to walk, check on the deer damage from the winter and list the repairs that need to be made.

Sunday it's supposed to rain, Elery gets off his 12 hour weekend shifts and so while he's napping, maybe I'll bake something.

Woah! Almost missed this one.

Linda, you and I are now kindred spirits as pointed out by other Linda! I intend to spend the weekend hooking while you are stripping!

Alexa , enjoy the meeting and the show. If you ever get up here I have about 100 or so Hostas that I'd love to share with you. Got some very special ones that need splitting. Also will take you to a Hosta nursery that will blow your mind...and your pocketbook! LOL

Annie, I recall "kid day" at the home my DDMIL was in...the old folk came alive watching and talking to the little ones. They actually opened a day care centre in the home she was in. Good medicine all the way 'round.

Nothing much happening here. Clive wants to go back to the cottage for a few days. I'm OK with "big time here and big time there" but not so fond of a "few days here and few days there". I already know I'll agree to go because it seems so important to him. You know how that one goes ladies.

Listen to me complaining when I am so damned blessed. I should be ashamed of myself......but I'm not! LOL
