Paul zimmerman has a wonderful video on rose pruning. I'll post the link. The main thing to do is remove the dead canes at the base of the rose. Also, feel free to thin the bushes out and try to open up the middle of the bush to more sunshine. Remove any canes that grow through the middle of the bush. I would also suggest shortening the growing canes somewhat. Not too harshly as you don't want to go too far with the roses the first pruning, but I would remove some height. I am not getting any pop up ads at all..... Maybe you need to turn a pop-up blocker on your browser? Do you use IE or Netscape or another browser? All have the option of blocking pop-ups. Please find a way to eliminate the pop-ups, we don't want you to leave because of them. when that happens always try clearing your cache on the browser to see if that fixes it. In firefox click on Tools then on clear private data there you can check mark all you want to clear, be sure to check mark cache then click the clear private data now button.

Hmmm, Could it be that you still have the tool selected and just don't realize it? For example, I select the paintbrush tool and do some painting on my butterfly image, then I go up to the menu at top (the mouse cursor will change to an arrow) and open another image to copy something from it into the butterfly image I'm working on. When I go back into the project work area (big space where my butterfly image is) I will still have the paintbrush tool selected unless I choose a different tool from the tool box. I can have a tool selected and with my mouse go to a window or the menu at top and the mouse cursor will change from whatever tool I have selected to an arrow. However when I go back to my project area the mouse cursor will change back to show the tool I have currently selected.
