Madmarchie - can you tell us where you are gardening ie which zone? And some pictures would be good. 'Looking a little funkie' would be perfectly normal for Brassicas in many places in November. Are these leaves all over the plant or just at the bottom? It is natural for the lower leaves of overwintering hardy brassicas to turn yellow and drop off and for the rest of the plant to get a bit weatherbeaten. And what Brassicas are they? If they are broccoli or sprouts the appearance of the leaves doesn't matter that much as long as they are feeding the plants. Plants often look scruffy but it doesn't necessarily mean they have specific chemical problem or that there is a magic bullet solution. If you have only been gardening for 2 years you may be expecting shop-like perfection in your homegrown produce whereas you can afford to accept much more natural-looking vegetables for the sake of flavour and freedom from chemicals. Also in your 'test' you don't have a control group because you gave all the other plants a feed which was not given to your test plants. So it will be hard to decide which effects are due to which actions. I can't help feeling you might be overanalysing normal winter wear and tear and killing your crops with kindness. Personally I'd give them a break from your attentions for a while and see how they get on. Like kids plants will often grow out of a problem by themselves with time. Fussing just makes them hypochondriacal.

Available Nitrogen depends on many things starting with soil temperature (which regulates that activity of the soil bacteria and fungi that feed your plants), to soil moisture, to how much organic matter the soil has. If the other major nutrients are in fair balance then the Nitrogen probably is also, although excess levels of any nitrient can also present problems. Excess Potash can interfere with a plants ability to properly use N and vice versa. Most all commercial soil test reports usually recommend applying 2 pounds of Nitrogen per 1,000 square feet without even testing for N and if you seriously think about that that is not very much. If your soil has adequate levels of organic matter Nitrogen more than likely will not be a problem.

That's almost a sand-scrubbed look. Like old Europe. Although sand wasn't necessarily used, many homes had raw wood floors scrubbed to a satiny smooth matte surface.. That tile could be a great start on a Scandinavian look, for instance. Waiting to see the "marble-esque" tile Lavender and assistant like, though. You know, I intended to do a deep golden background to set rich colors against in our bedroom, but I took one glance at my tobacco-brown going on our sloping attic ceiling and ran, not walked, to grab a couple gallons of an inoffensive pale taupe. Nothing like your own conditions. I imagine I over-reacted, but in mine the tobacco looked like a day-glow enhancement of a baby's first diaper, and summers in this climate require all windows be open and an overhead fan blowing all night. So the room is cream, pale taupe, white, brown, and green instead of, as planned, jewel tones (Lavender's fairy tale) with garnet, emerald, topaz.

Hiya! Well, I lean the most toward doing a backsplash in the kitchen, which would eliminate having to do a paint colour that is probably out of your comfort zone on the walls. That doesn't mean you can do a cool/gray tile, but I would look at a travertine which is a beautiful stone. This means that the remaining wall space will be a 'bit' removed from directly connecting with the countertop and might give you a wink more flexibility (but not tons...). You might need to listen to the particular needs of this kitchen and then transition out to your comfort zone in the other rooms, creating more of a palette - think of it on the large scale, rather than just this one room. OF the cool undertones, I would say that the cabinets, in a few photos, look like a neutral with a green undertone (like JUST barely). You could check out the likes of SW Gossamer Veil, it's a bit of a chameleon and might flex between the needs of your kitchen and your personal tastes. You could also look at BM Natural Linen, which is more of a tan that leans a wink grayish.
