Look what I got! (Blatant Bragging Thread)

My 30-or-so year old Kenwood Chef mixer started making painful noises the last time I used it, and coupled with the fact that the whipping attachment is broken and the flat beater is missing and spare parts are not available, I decided it was time I got a new mixer. Then I hear there is a clearance sale going on at a shop that is moving. In I go and find a KitchenAid mixer on 20% discount. 20 minutes in a queue, and home I went with a new mixer. What a beautiful fountain Marlene. I think the moss sounds like a great idea. Or maybe mosaic - or both. It's so nice Maybe think about doing a whole area around it. I was watering with the hose this afternoon and the dragonflies kept divebombing the water like they do. I thought wouldn't it be cute if you had (some kind of) dragonflies on springy wire that would bob up and down in the water. btw, kudos to your dh. He sure is a handy guy to have around.

(that decoupaged desk is dreamy. literally so-was my dream to do something like that one day so is penny's super elegant sofa, cawaps' art(i'm especially in love with black and white), Sue's chair and green tables, palimpsest's mind blowing finds, aktillery's hood(had no idea it's handmade!!), Lynn's rooms,Kitch3me's room, arcy's kitchen, sabbath's drapes, nosoccermom's buffet..I can go on and on I'm just afraid to miss someone..) patty it's pink:) I'll need to think of a flower or something to describe it better. not red, not coral...not blush pink though or baby pink either. not hot pink. maybe I'll find a decent image somewhere. I collect colors(again, Pinterest), maybe will give me a clue of what to compare it to. I'd like it..I love expanding my vocabulary on colors

Alexa, I got a black one. They only had them in black, cream and blue, and I decided that since they weren't available in red (first choice) or chrome (second choice), I would get the black one.

Amck, I haven't decided on a recipe, but I'm thinking spice cake or bread, or I may find a recipe I like in the cookbook that came with it.

BTW, they had really cool Kitchen Aid ice-cream makers that look like a baby version of the mixers. I'm getting one when my current ice-cream machine dies.

Incidentally, I recently bought a granite mortar and pestle that I am going to start using by making pesto. It was David Lebovitz who convinced me that I needed one. I'll post a photo later.

Nice!!!! I have had a KA Mixer for years and love it!!!

You will really enjoy it. So many uses; from cookies to breads. Mixing meats for meatloaf or meat balls, etc......

Enjoy your new mixer Netla! I have the exact same one in pistachio and I use it all the time. My DH bought me the ice cream maker attatchment last year and I used that tonight to make strawberry frozen yogurt. Are you talking about getting a separate ice cream maker or the attatchment?

Tracey, it's a separate machine that looks like a child-sized mixer. I didn't even know you could get an attachment.

I've been on an ice cream making spree lately and I've really enjoyed the attatchment. Here's a picture of it in the box and another of making vanilla gelato with my old mixer.
