correct gut feeling

When my ma's ma was taken into hospital in 1988 with cancer I immediately had the gut feeling that she wouldn't come out alive and I started grieving then. I was correct and she never came round from the operation.

In 1996 My dad's dad was taken in for cancer. I had the same gut feeling, same outcome.

On a more positive note, in 1986 my mother was taken in for breast cancer. I had the gut feeling that everything would be OK and sure enough it was. She's still here now.

And in 1992 my brother was involved in a serious car crash and left in a coma. My gut feeling was that again everything would turn out OK and it did, he made a full recovery despite it being 70/30 against at one point.

Who else has had similar feelings that turn out to be correct?

i had similar feelings about my daughter jamie for a long time before she died...i knew that i was going to lose her....maybe it was mothers intuition...she also had a dream about a week before she died that she only had two months to live...me being a mom lectured her on taking better care of herself ..when i should have let HER do the talking ....i am so sorry for that among other things...you sound like you have a gift....do you have premonitions about other things?

I didn't have a gut feeling before we lost Christin, but I had had a dream. I dreamed that one of my children was in a terrible accident. The accident happened about 2 days afterwards. In the dream, I saw emergency vehicle lights blinking etc. just as I saw when I approached Christin's accident.
I've talked to several mothers who dreamed that their children were going to die and also, many of the children had dreams or somehow knew that they weren't going to be here long.

Mongo, Thank you so much for your detailed reply, I really appreciate your time. We're thinking of DIY-ing at least some of this, we've tiled before and these are fairly small rooms. I have a few more questions if you would have time to answer: -- Do we staple the tar paper and screw on the cement board right down to the flange in the wet areas, or is there a certain distance above the flange in which we should avoid using staples/screws? Just concerned about the holes this will make thru our underlayer. -- Can we just put the cement backer board for the wet areas all over the bathroom? Would this be simpler and give more waterproofing over the whole bathroom (my small kids will use this room and they splash a lot!). Does this cost more than the drywall, is this the reason for using drywall in the dry areas? -- In the bathroom with the tub, the existing tile is 3/4 high, and above it is just painted. The paint shows some mold/mildew. The house inspector used an infra-red camera that is supposed to detect moisture in walls and could not find any behind this wall, so he thought it is just surface mold (probably from lack of venting). Its mainly this mold that is making us think we need to gut this bathroom. The tile itself looks in fairly good shape. Is there some "remedy" we can use to clear the mold and could we then tile over this area to the ceiling? Or do you think we are best to go with our original plan to gut and tile new? trying to save $$ but not at the cost of a bigger fix later on. -- A plumber will come in and check/upgrade/move sink plumbing for us when the rooms are down to the studs. Electrician is coming in as well. neither room is vented at the moment (only windows, but I doubt they ever opened them), so we will be adding proper vent fans that vent to the outside. Thank you.

hope you are feeling better today! i noticed you were at the dentist yesterday, if you feel flu-ish today get to the doc today! in 05 i got a severe staph infection (out of work for 6 wks & nearly died) from a dental cleaning and thought at first i was run down, having just got back from a long vacation. then i developed what i thought was mono... get to the doc please! ~ liz

Why thanks for thinking about me. I am feeling okay super tired again like I was when my iron was low. No I didn't call the doc or change my appt. It is still set for Monday with the ultrasound and tuesday with my doc. So I will let you know as soon as I can.....If I haven't posted by thursday that means I had surgery....we are going to take the 5th wheel and go to Eureka Springs for the weekend...then on to Missouri for my appts. and I won't have access to a puter til we get home.....but we will plan on leaving wed. if I don't have to have surgery and if I do they are doing it wed......And back to your ? I just rambled thru (lol) I do have twinges of pain but nothing like it was the other day when I posted.....Thanks again Stacy

I think there is a difference between gut feelings and intuition. I am skeptical of my gut feelings but not of my intuition, although both can be wrong at times. My gut feelings can be wrong about 50% of the time, but my intuition has a much higher accuracy, historically. My gut feelings can be reflex reactions, and those can never be trusted, and I do not. When I have an intuitive feeling, I recognize it for what it is and pay attention to it, whether I act upon it or not. I've been in the woods when I could sense that there would be a bear in the near vicinity, and in each case, there was, and I was able to backtrack to avoid the bear instead of facing it head-on. Once I sensed a bear behind me, and it was a good thing that I did. I've also had premonitions that would strike me instantly, and these turned out to be extremely accurate, even though I did not want to believe them when they struck me. I never wanted to believe them when they happened to me and generally kept them to myself, only to regret later that I did not reveal them to others to warn them. According to Einstein's unified field theory, there are at least ten dimensions, which you can read about in Michio Kaku's book Hyperspace, in which he discusses string field theory. I also believe that some sort of time travel is possible, to visit probable futures, and that this can be done sometimes while asleep and dreaming but also sometimes while conscious and accessing another dimension. This has happened to me on many occasions, and when I dream of the future just before it happens, it is the most accurate, but if I dream of it very far in advance, the probable future has more opportunities to change. When a dream comes to reality, I feel like I am experiencing déjà vu , but I often realize that it is really just something that I have dreamed previously and not actually experienced before. This happened to me much more frequently when I was much younger. As a child, I also had a lot of dreams that seemed to be of my previous deaths, but I have no way of knowing whether this is the case or not. Fortunately, I do not have these dreams any more. I tend to have extremely vivid dreams, many of which cause me anxiety and are difficult for me to awake from. While having these dreams, I am generally convinced that I am awake and not dreaming, even though I have identified certain clues to let myself know that I am dreaming and not awake. One that did not work was trying to pinch myself during a dream to confirm that I was asleep, but when I did this, I felt the pain of the pinch, and this only served to convince me that I was awake. Another clue is when I recognize that I am hopelessly lost and will never be able to find my way home on the streetcar or by walking back on the path I have just been on, or that I am in a house or building that keeps morphing as I am walking through it. I then say to myself, this only happens in dreams, and so I must be dreaming, but I am not always convinced, as I do have a tendency to get lost in real life. This might be why I have collected maps.

I regard the news of these types of experiences with hope, because I believe the dream world and psychic capacity are closely related to the afterlife.

As if Christin was given the dream.

I guess I always feared losing my little brother. He would do dangerous stuff like jump snowcliffs in the backcountry or climb or swim in extreme locations. I never really thought he could be killed, though. Not after my big brother died. I just feared losing dan coz he was all I had. I thought Ron's death meant we had all paid in full, that we would all have to live long lives without him. Oh God, I have been working so hard to help pay the rent I have had to push my grief aside, there are no room for tears in a 12 hour shift. At night I'm too exhausted to even begin to think about it. Now it's catching up with me.... oh Danny. You were so good and young and strong. I'm so glad I got to see the man you grew up to be. I can only imagine you would have grown handsomer and cooler with age. This world was a better place when you lived here. I miss you so much. I hope you continue on, man. I asked you to come sit on the bed with me, sit right next to my crying body if you could, in any way. The bed was still empty, the ****** bed would not ever be your seat, and I slammed the empty spot in desperation after my begging did not produce a ghostly image in front of my eyes to comfort me. Then I felt very heavy, as if I was covered with a leaded blanket, and recieved the thought, "The eyes are blind to him. He's there but eyes and hands can't sense him".

With my second child, my son, I've always had this "seed" deep within me somehow knowing I'll maybe not see him to adulthood.

The 'maybe' is for me...because one cannot walk around waiting for some unknown "it" to happen.

I've not had feelings like this about my daughter. Ever.

I wonder how my parenting and bonding has been affected by this?

What ever happens if I am wrong and I've been preparing myself for this all the time & his whole childhood!!

I guess we all have a fleeting thought or two about our loved ones dying, but I had absolutely NO premonition that my child would die on a particular day and time. At the time of his accident, ordinary daily events were happening and we did not know of his death for almost twenty-four hours. I had no feelings of something about to happen, or unusual thoughts of him during that whole time.

Anne-Marie, I hope while you spend your whole life anticipating this it never, ever happens to you.
