I just don't want to rely on that fear for my food source. Fish is difficult for me to give up, but I haven't had beef or chicken in about a month. My old standard favorite of pepperoni pizza doesn't even sound good anymore.

After I finished my dinner tonight, I got the plastic box of fresh blueberries out of the frig, the ones I bought at Trader Joes, and finished them off. They were amazing. When I picked them up in the store, (I buy blueberries as often as I can...) the stocker-guy said....."They are Outrageous!!!" I don't really know what an 'outrageous' berry would be like, but they are very delicious, for sure.

If I ask someone a question, of course. But in the main....I probably don't really care. I send out email when I find something interesting I want to share, or when I think my Mom is wondering if she's going to have mail, (she's almost 88 and checks her email every day) or when I want to cheer someone up. First time I've experienced a generic not working as well. The ineffective brand is "Amneal", in case anyone's interested. Trying to switch back to "Caraco", a generic manufacturer that makes effective generics. Never thought it would matter to me, but it does, so that's why I'm sharing.

What are you most afraid of?
DH losing job. From that would cascade loss of health insurance (ongoing issues, not to mention the odd heart attack thrown in every so often), living off savings--but mostly loss of health insurance. A surprise hospitalization without insurance and we're done for, because we live so close to the bone so we can homeschool.
Of course, sudden huge disaster (e.g. nuclear attack) is up there too. Definitely fear somehow losing ability to protect DD.

In general? Border collie. For us? Maybe havanese. I don't have the energy for a b.c. even though I'd LOVE one and I've loved every one I've ever known.

I'm kindof surprised at the what are you most afraid of answers. Almost everyone listed death/injury/sickness to self/kids/hubby etc. If you watch the so called reality shows like Survivor, Biggest Loser, etc, you'd think at least half the answers would be heights/snakes/rats. They must cast those people specifically because of their answers to what are you afraid of questions.

I'm also kindof surprised at how many yeses there were for stick shift driving. I'm one of the only women I know IRL who can drive one.

laxsupermom - oh, I'm utterly terrified of heights (or maybe that should be the abrupt cessation of height? LOL), I have to be sedated for dental work, and I have a bizarre phobia about vomit, but that's not the sort of fear that wakes me up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat.

I like rats and snakes though. Both make good pets. (And then sometimes you feed the rats to the snakes. A friend and I briefly ran a little "snake food" business in college selling baby rats because so many people we knew had snakes. The rat cages stunk up my apartment though, despite daily cleaning, so I quit.)

And I'm afraid of fish. But it's not my greatest fear. ;-)

LOL johnmari -- it's not the fall, it's what happens at the *end* of the fall... (I really shouldn't joke -- we know a boy who climbed a doug fir tree way too high and fell from 40 feet up. Was slowed in his fall by hitting huge branches--mixed blessing, causing loads of injuries in addition to the impact ones. Barely lived, two near-death moments, recovering miraculously.)

(Interesting point about screening for fears for a tv show, though -- makes complete sense because putting someone under the test of making them think their children were hurt and they couldn't help them would be considered flat out ethics-investigation-level-torture. Spiders and snakes are much more box office.)

I can drive anything too. Learned to drive a home made tractor when I was 7. It became my mode of transportation in later years. Drove school bus for a single school year (Not my thing but I ended up in charge of bus transportation and safety for a few years).

I learned to drive in a crash box transmission on a very curvy road with giant cliffs. Double clutch, listen closely for the feel and sound of the motor. Up and down twice on the clutch. Maybe reave the gas a little, if needed. If you listened well, the transmission welcomed the gear right off. Miss by a second and you could wind up finding yourself stopped on the freeway. (My dad was a mechanic).

I am a driver too. My husband lets me drive when we travel. He drives like a little old man. Traffic intimidates him. Heck, he's an artist with so many other skills. I can drive anything.

SAHA - stay at home auntie

What color are your socks right now?
Sandal, no socks. I used to only wear socks from Dec to Feb because my feet were only cold in the dead of winter. Times sure have changed because now I need socks Oct to April and during the coldest months I wear 2 pair at once.

What are you listening to right now?
A lawn mower outside & the fridge humming inside

Yes, a high school boyfriend taught me in his brother's car (without permission of the owner!)

I hate all sports and don't watch any of them willingly. Now if the question was what sports are often shown on the TV in my home the answer would be baseball, golf, basketball & football.

Water, Lipton tea

Have you ever dyed your hair?
I've been paying someone else to dye or highlight it for years. I have never attempted to do it myself. I have helped my sisters dye their hair. Hey, if I mess it up it's not my head!

Favorite food?
I love many things (fruit, veggies, breads) but if I had to pick a last meal it would be Silician pizza from a specific local place.

What is the last movie you watched?
Angels & Demons. We were on vacation & it was rainy so we went to a movie, which is a little unusual for us. We might go to see 6-8 movies a year so it's funny that I have a just released movie to name. We have never rented a video for no specific reason. I guess because DH is usually watching sports and I'd rather read.

Favorite days of the year?
Any sunny, warm day.

How do you vent anger?
I guess it depends on what is causing the anger...nothing too dramatic but maybe my DH would have another opinion on this.

What was your favorite toy as a child?
I had one Barbie - this was back in the day you had one doll & multiple clothes. My friends with daughters tell me now-a-days girls will have multiple Barbies. I knew a family with 3 girls and they had 65 Barbies! The Mom said it was because they were rather cheap so for birthday gifts people would just buy them another doll & not just an outfit. And she, the mother, used to spend an hour a week redressing the dolls because she couldn't stand to see a pile of naked Barbies on the floor. To each his own, I guess.

yes, I hate to sign on and not have any new mail but I detest those FW:FW:FW kind so I'd rather not have anything than those.

Just DH in a 2 story house

When was the last time you cried?
Last week but it was a bittersweet kinda cry not a blubbering snot-fest. Don't remember the last BSF.

What is on the floor of your closet?
Shoes, relatively neatly arranged. And a box of baking soda to absorb stale odors.

What did you do last night?
Went to a wine tasting party. We all drew a country out of hat and brought wine & appetizer from our country. I had Germany so I bought a Riesling (named Way Kuhl - it was very tasty) and Tilsit cheese, pretzel rolls from Wegman's & German chocolate cake (I cheated and used a box mix for the cake but homemade frosting).

What are you most afraid of?
Something harmful happening to a family member, global diasters, and snakes (I'm still kinda freaked after opening a recent posting on the other side a week or so ago. Yikes, I was not expecting that...I thought maybe a garden gnome or fountain. But no hard feelings. It's my phobia, not your problem).

Favorite dog breed?
Never had a dog myself so no favorite. Thru family members I've been exposed to Goldens, Labs & an Australian Cattle dog, which were all very nice dogs.

Every day is a good day for a SAHA

4 - Mass, Rhode Island, NJ, Pa

Diamonds, pearls, art jewelry or costume?
I have little interest in jewelry so 3 years ago when a necklace caught my eye my DH said we should buy it for your anniversary present. Coincidently, it has 13 diamonds and it was my 13th anniversary - it must have been fate. He, in turn, had an ice cream from Cold Stone creamery as his present. Everyone left the mall happy.

Fashion or comfort?
Comfort, but I don't believe in wearing sweat clothes unless I'm going to, at, or returning from the gym.
