Losing my voice?

I just got over the pain from my Diverticulotis. Now I have kinda lost my voice. I can only speak in a low voice. It has been going on now for 7 days.

Does anyone know what a person can do to get your normal voice back?

I have not had a cold. Is there such a thing as a voice virus.

I do take Thyroid medicine. Could it be my thyroid? I went to the doctor's he said give it another week and then he will send me to a throat specialist.

If you are still feeling this way Monday, if I were you, I'd get the doc to go ahead and refer to ENT. Why would he want to wait two weeks?

The doctor seems to think it will go away. I looked up some info on the Internet.
I read where using mouthwash, smoking, alcohol, or caffine could cause it.The only one I use is the mouth wash.
I have just started gargling with Scope mouthwash about 10 days ago before I go to bed. It seems to keep my mouth so smooth and wet through the night. I have had trouble waking up with a very dry mouth. So I started the Scope to gargle.
I just read where it has 15% alcohol. Maybe...just maybe this is causing it.

wow that is great and I must say the person writing the first article had a wonderful command of the English language and his descriptions almost make you hear it. You just don't see that kind of descriptive writing these days. I know what you mean about hearing their voices one more time. I have saved a recorded message from my mother on my telephone answering machine, she is barely able to speak these days so hearing her sweet voice on that message means a lot. I thought I had one of my father but apparently it was lost or got recorded over which is so disappointing. So record them even if just talking so you can go back and hear their voices when you need to.

My 4 year old GGD has her own Ipad that plays music, movies etc and she is so good on it. Might be part of the leap frog program. And she takes real good care of it.

It is marvelous, isn't it, to be remembered by so many Kters. When I had my hip surgery, I was so pleased with the good wishes.....then I had my birthday, and the cards came in again. It was really remarkable to be so remembered.

Stop talking and wait a few days. It will come back. This happens to me every so often - last time was six days - but it always resolves itself.

Skip the mouthwash. That sort of thing can irritate the delicate membranes in the back of your mouth and throat. This time of year, the trees are putting out pollen. You may have developed a little allergy. It would be wise to get it checked out soon.

On Monday I am going to call and set up an app't w/Dr.
Right now I can only talk with a whisper.
The doctor does not seem concerned. He said it was a sexy voice....smile.
Who wants a sexy voice at this age...smile

If you have dry scratchy throat thru the night, it is probably due to sinus drainage, allergies, or just the cold weather making the heat run. It's been chilly down where you are I heard....

Anyway, you're better off gargling with old fashioned warm salt water, nothing more.

I had a very bad flu about a month ago. I lost my voice and everything! Well its been a month and my voice still isn't fully back. Any suggestions??
