It's just so random. It's my right index finger and it truly feels like a dead person's finger. When I touch it from bottom to top I feel absolutely nothing. All nine others fingers are pink and this one is purplish white. Right now it's normal but that could change in a minute. I've even had it in the summer if I'm searching around a frozen food case in the grocery store. >>Susan..where do you get toastie toes? Another question. What is the best kind of sock to buy. 100% wool? I usually wear heavy low cut cotton socks, but for winter, I'll need to change this. It's weird when I take a bath my toes are pure white and then when they hit the warm water they turn purplish black and then pink up. I've never had sores but it gets worse every year so that'll probably next. I was diagnosed with FM in 1990 but didn't have this till about five years ago.

Funny, I was just thinking about a post you must have made on this topic last year! I'm doing fine here too so far -- knowing how to manage it and avoiding stress! Alisande, I'm so sorry to learn of your problems! Sounds horrible. I love using MediBeads!!!!! If you don't have one (or more) you may want to try them. I have 3 versions. lol! I buy them on-line at National Allergy. You heat them in the microwave for a few minutes and they provide nice moist heat for a long time. I'll do something like heat the neck wrap and just wrap my hands in it or heat the king pad for my feet. I'm sorry that's happening to you, PT. I've had Raynaud's for decades, and wear disposable foot warmers about 7 or 8 months of the year. I wish I had something comparable for my hands, which suffer damage, mostly to my right hand, every year. Summer usually brings relief though. I do know stress can be a factor, so that might be what's going on with you. Raynaud's can be part of an autoimmune disorder, or it can present on its own. If it's related to a condition like lupus, for example, the patient would see a rheumatologist. Otherwise I would think an internist might be able to help. Something causes the capillaries to clamp down at a certain temperature. I'm guessing that temperature varies from person to person. Some people have had good results from taking a beta blocker. I hope you find a solution.

Lovemrm- There may not be a whole lot of info to explore. My knowledge is some out of date but in ’87 I was recovering in an ER and discussed Raynaud’s with a doc who said there wasn’t that much known about it because it wasn’t all that widespread or important a problem. In other words other problems were more pressing and I suppose more lucrative for researchers. It may be interesting; I had been in a boating fiasco and was in/out/in the water and by the time I got to the ER I was at the point of uncontrollable shaking. Inevitable body cooling was the next step. I missed that one :-). Anyway during all that my fingers were alternatively white and red and white and red. So it would seem the problem was coming and going regardless of my body core temperature. I don’t care what the docs say my experience has convinced me it is not the body core temp or even the ambient temp that controls (initiates or prevents) the events but the body activity level. Many times during the course of that affliction I worked outside bare handed in cold weather with no problem after a vigorous exercise session. It’s a simple experiment to try and costs nothing.
