Chiropractic anyone?!
Comments (16)Tina- Yeah, it seems like a good office that I go to! They're very busy; young & old people coming and going. Yeah, they have me doing a half-dozen exercises. A couple are with bands. * One is arms stiff out in front of me, bringing wrists down to hip, and finishing with a "squeeze" between the shoulder-blades. The TRICKY part is to do the last few inches WITHOUT using the actual shoulder muscles much...but trying to isolate the squeeze to just between the blades...tricky!! * The other "band" ex. is- Elbows in front of me, with palms facing me. Forearm/upper-arm angle = 90deg. Now, arms are rotated outwards/back, so palms are facing your ears at the finish. Viewed from the back, it looks like you're making the letter "W". Again, the tricky part is to keep the shoulders "Low & quiet", and just squeezing the S-blades together. * There's some "Floor" ex's. for balance & hip strength thru the back. A couple use a balance-ball. Overall, I'm SO glad I went thru this!! One of the Techs is a smaller young Woman. When She gets into working some of the smaller R/C-muscles/tendons at a deeper level though....%@**UWY&(#...it hurts! Today...they went a little deeper, per the Chiro's orders....Oh joy....! It's helping though!! At least I can "comfortably tolerate" some of the massages that used to damn-near make me scream! The muscles now seem softer and more pliable when they're working on me. Comments (15)Hire an interior designer to help you with the material selections. A good one should be able to hear the needs of both you and DH and hopefully help things to calm down somewhat on the home front. I don't take the stress of making expensive decisions very well and consider the designer worth every penny. She really was my security blanket. Plus with her help, I'm thrilled with the results. If you decide to follow through with this suggestion, try to hire someone in your area who can pop in for a quick consult for those unexpected problems....See MoreAnother...just wondering
Comments (30)I use to put on makeup and style my hair every morning.I was a Mary Kay Consultant for many years and tried to at least look like I used the products.LOL Since we have been residing with the kids here in Albuquerque I don't do the makeup every day.I do try to make my hair look presentable.I have really short hair so it doesn't take much, just a little styling gel.It is so hot here and we don't have refrigerated air so makeup would be senseless and chasing after 2-2 year olds makes you sweat!LOL I never leave the house without makeup, although nobody would probably notice.I don't really know anyone here so it wouldn't make any difference how I look I guess.I just like to look nice when I'm out in public.I see so many people out in public that look like they didn't look in the mirror before they left home and I don't want to be one of those people!LOL...See Morefrozen shoulder?
Comments (9)I've had it twice, once in each shoulder, a couple of years apart. The first time, I suffered until it became unbearable, before I found out what it was. I kept thinking, "Rest, don't use it more than necessary," which is the worst thing one can do. Both times I lifted something heavy, which caused inflammation and then the adhesions started to develop. Each time I was given a cortisone injection, and let me tell you, a couple of days later--I felt it the moment the pain started to calm down. Also, each time I was given the choice of PT at a rehab clinic, or doing a regimen of exercises on my own. I chose to do my own PT, and within a couple of months, I was using my shoulders almost normally. I don't think I recovered 100% range of motion, but I'm 60--I'll never move as if I'm 20. Hot packs before exercises, cold packs after, and pendulum swings between painful stretches helped a lot. If you go to YouTube and type in 'frozen shoulder' you can find some good exercises. One word of caution--the cortisone injections can raise blood pressure, especially if combined with anti-inflammatory meds such as ibuprofen. I've read that post menopausal women are most commonly affected, and that frozen shoulder can be a precursor to later developing diabetes. My mother had frozen shoulder once, as did my father, and one of my brothers. My father has been diagnosed with diabetes....See More- 16 years ago
