Cooking hints: How NOT to do it!

If you've frozen your scones, NEVER allow them to thaw before re-heating them. Re-heat them from frozen in the oven or in the microwave.

If you allow them to thaw out, they'll turn back into dough again!

How do I know this? Well, I've often had purchased scones in the freezer, and have always just reheated them from frozen, and have delighted in 'fresh hot scones'. But when some interstate friends rang the other day to say they were coming to see me in between visiting their brand new grandchild, I thought I'd be clever. Got the scones out well before my friends were expected.

Went to pick them up to serve, and they'd turned to sticky glue! Managed to salvage enough still-partially-frozen ones for a scone each, but I have to tell you it wasn't really a success, even after some time in the oven to re-cook.

Fortunately, I've known this couple all my long life!
