Would you smoke under these circumstances? A fantasy

20 years ago

You only have six months to live and are able to smoke, would you start smoking again?

This assumes that it would not complicate or cause any extra problems.

I'm just curious to see how many of us would begin again and enjoy our old vice once again.

Clear NO. After 5 years without cigarette I feel smoking was not only unhealthy but "filthy" habit. It has bad odour and bad taste and it disturb people around. Why would I want to make my closest people to be disturbed by unpleasant smoke? Because if somebody is not smoking than smoking person is disturbing, however bad it sound.
I would start do another thing - like more walks with dog, more traveling, more smiling with beloved person, more writing, more smelling roses...more feeling life...
And not worry about money or similar trivialities which stop to make sense when we know it is time to leave...

I don't smoke, but I had a friend that was dying of lung cancer. She had reached a point where everything took a great deal of effort and energy. She was very blunt about it. Smoking was the only thing that she could do except watch TV. She enjoyed it. It took little effort and if it shortened her life.....well fine! She didn't like what her life was and the sooner the pain and exhausttion was over, the better. I agreed with her and supported her decision.

Is it after you have been around a certain someone or something she doesn't like? Maybe she dooesnt like that smell, and wants to make sure she marks you good. My mother's boyfriend had a cat that did that to her. Every once in awhile she'd be at his house and the cat would just come up on her and make a puddle on her, she even peed on her coat a couple times. Otherwise, that cat always stayed away from my mom. It was weird, the cat never peed anywhere else but the litterbox and my mom. The cat passed 2 years ago, for no apparent reason, she was pretty young too..If I were you I'd call the vet and see if you should bring her in. I don't wanna worry you, I mean his cat was doing this for about 2 years before she died. I don't know if it was related. But I am definately interested in the cause if you find out. Short answer (read my many other hood parameter messages for background): Actual flow 90 CFM per square foot of the entry aperture area of whatever hood you choose, preferably a deep one. Rated blower CFM: 90 x area x 1.5 if the MUA path has no significant pressure loss. Otherwise, more. At best, high flow rates will extend the hood effective aperture by an inch or so on each side; you won't have the side capture of a 42 inch hood with 36 inches. MUA will have a pressure loss unless a window or door is open and unscreened (or a lot of doors or windows are open and screened). If your house can normally leak ca. 900 CFM with no pressure loss, you must live in Pago Pago. If house pressure falls below -0.03 inches of water relative to the outside, you are in danger of back-drafting carbon monoxide from any combustion appliances you might have unless they have full sealed MUA.

To tell the truth, I never thought that Marshall & Swift was correct. We had to use it as a third party source, but the valuations were stupid wrong. No one really relies on the Cost Approach. The Sales Comparison Approach is given the greatest weight in residential appraisal. So, get the price per square foot out of your head. It means nothing. You won't know the price per square foot until the project is completed. It's going to be a lot higher than $85. The appraiser works for the lender. End of subject. The appraisal is not to protect you, it's to protect the lender. You pay for the appraisal. It's not yours. Get everything in writing. Get a real estate lawyer to draw up the contract. Be disciplined about your upgrades and change orders. It's good advice to spend your money on insulation, windows and HVAC. It's the stuff you can't see that makes the difference to how good a house you get.
