Bamboo and natural maple are probably the most consistent in color. Select grades in most woods have less color variation than less expensive grades. And, many companies are offering prefinished flooring in such dark shades that there is little color variation.

Paint the floor.

Actually floorguy, I love the look but... this is new construction. We plan on hardwood and must go for a lighter color because many of the soft furniture pieces are brown and I am concerned the room would look like a cave with dark flooring. Even the dark floors I have seen, like the cherry's, still look like patchwork to me. I did look at a Bruce maple but that too had many different colors board by board. It seems to be so prevalant. In unfinished flooring you must select the grade that will give you the least variation in wood color. The mill is important here also. I am talking domestic species only here; oak, maple, hickory and other wood harvested in the states.

There is little differnce in wholesale cost among the grades. Figure a $.50 to $1.50 per square foot upcharge depending upon the grade selected.

Have you looked at laminate? Maybe that would give you the uniform look you are looking for.

lynn, what you are asking for is something that doesn't quite mesh with what nature provides. If you want a very consistent color, I agree with either maple or paint the floor.

I love that Amendoim flooring and if I could have solid wood in my townhouse that is the company where I would buy the hardwood floor from since their samples are are so nice. But they do not offer the Amendoim Hardwood flooring in an engineered version. I actually like some variation in the floor boards.

Just looking at the pics of the Amendoim again. I just love the floor in those pics on my monitor. My monitor I think makes everything more red which to me is so pretty. I doubt if the floor is that red in person from my samples here but I sure love it.

Some photos look like there are a lot of color variation and some don't. How does the color variation compare to Brazilian Cherry and Oak?

Most all wood floors have variations. That photo shows it clearly, but whoever put it down could have done a much better job with the blending.

I just finished getting BR-111 Amendoim (engineered) installed in my home. It is GORGEOUS! My floors have a lot of color variation, which is what I wanted. Most of my furniture is dark cherry or mahogany, and I think the floor blends nicely without being too "matchy."

Aggietexan, Which engineered BR-111 did you go with (the Triangulo 3.25" wide or the Triangulo 5" wide or just the plain Engineered with less wear layer and which width?)? Any pictures? I had been wanting the Amendoim but then was in a store with a floor with so many knots that I got scared. I like color variation. What colors do you see? How does the grain compare to American Oak. From my samples the grain varies and I like my samples.

I have my choices narrowed down to BR-111 Triangulo Brazilian Cherry Vs. BR-111 Triangulo Amendoim versus Cosco Quartered White Oak in the rose stain or the Auburn Stain. I even really like the Bruce Park Avenue Makore Laminate in my home office where the shine picks up some red from my cherry home office furniture but in my family room it has no red in it.

I need to make a decision real soon but some unexpected expenses coming up with my hard drive dying and having to take all this time off from work installing all my software to a new computer drive and restoring all my files is putting off the decision a little bit longer. I wish someone had all these floors in person to see to help me make a decision.

Aggietexan, did you glue down your floor or float it? I can't wait to see pictures!

It's glued down...we're on a slab foundation. I couldn't believe how easily the wood went in. I expected a lot of banging, but the planks fit together very smoothly. I remember having wood installed in our first house, and I thought I'd NEVER get the pounding out of my head! These planks just clicked together with no fuss! :)

Thank you Aggietexan for letting me know how easily they click together. My Brazilian Cherry wood samples click together like that also of the BR-111 Triangulo Engineered Wood floors (someone on this forum sent me 5 foot long planks) and I love the finish on top.
