After I made corned beef, I saved the corned beef juice and corned some pork.

Came out very nice. You should give that a try.

I made this once from Julia Child's recipe. It was good, but not worth all the effort IMO. Yours looks delcious!

Lindac- In my days it was called Parson's College and the students got high off of smoking plants and not by levitating. Roseanne had yet to make her debut with Tom and the couple in Grant Wood's picture had yet to find their pitch fork. Iowa is an amazing place to have spent several years hiding out from reality as a kid from Chicago. Are you familiar with the many fried chicken dinner taverns found in the tiny towns in SE Iowa? I remember one in a town named Mt. Hamil. For those uneducated about Iowa, it has no mountains just some very deep gullies and when a town is placed on the edge of a gully they give it a Mt.name. Mt. Hamil had a few homes perched on the side of a gully and a tavern which served pitchers of beer and fried chicken to anyone who sat down. There was no ordering you just sat, ate, and drank. I can still taste the chicken today, whether it was the close proximity of the hog lot across the street which insured the grease to be really fresh or the chickens which roamed the streets and you never saw twice, this place made the best fried chicken. Bread crumbs won't stick to pork chops

These are REALLY good (thanks Pat!). PAT T'S IDIOT PORK CHOPS 2 sticks butter, melted 2 eggs, beaten Italian bread crumbs 6 pork chops Mix the melted butter and the eggs being careful that the butter is not so hot it will cook the eggs. Dip your pork chops in the butter/egg mix, and then the Italian bread crumbs, and then dip it AGAIN in the butter/egg mix and Again in the Italian bread crumbs. You have to dip it in each twice as it is not as good if you only do it one time. Bake the pork chops at 350Â° F. for 40 minutes to 1 hour depending on the size of the chops.

Now I understand so many things. I know why these little bundles are a family affair on New Year's Day! Yes, Woodie, I'll say they're a lot of work...I need a Margarita. My recipe made 50, and I had some pork left over so it looks like I may be making burritos soon. (I'm not complaining.) I froze half of them without steaming, and will try freezing some of the steamed ones to see which is preferable. For some reason, I really want to add a big mess of carmelized onions to the pork mixture, but I thought I'd do it according to the recipe the first time. I did have to strain the chili sauce, so if you try these, add that as an extra step! The official taste test is tonight...

That looks so-o-o-oo good!
But then, almost everything you post pictures of, does.

I have often wondered why pork
wasn't as readily available corned,
As beef is.

It seems a 'natural' for it.

No kidding!
Wow, learn something new every day!

Actually, 'ham' and 'corned beef' are quite different.
Ham doesn't have the spices, for one thing.
And that is what I'd like to see commercially available.
Pork cured the same way as corned beef.

LOL, Linda! Actually I was going to go a step further and offer that corned beef is traditionally Jewish food, and Jews and pork... well...

dcarch - I do agree with the others that this looks delicious. I might not have admitted I recycled the brine though. yyyyyyyyyahhhhh! Come on, man, the salt and spices are cheap! But I digress. Good looking food, nice presentation.

Actually corned beef was a new England thing....and the Jews adopted it as a Jewish answer to ham....
Pastrami is another sort of brined and spices beef brisket

The irish eat more pork than beef. They should corn pork instead.
