Hi to all my Idyllette/Idyller Friends. Thank you so much for thinking of me on my Birthday. The cards above are so beautiful and thoughtful. I have been so touched by all the words of friendship I have gotten from all over the country and around the world as I go through this difficult life transition. Some of you know I am going through a divorce -- tough, complicated stuff. It has put some of my garden activities on hold for now, though I still know I will return to it, I hope in earnest next year. In the meantime, your cards and pictures and good wishes have kept me going, and give me a vicarious garden. I spent the day before my BD in the Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco, where I had been at a meeting at UCSF for a couple of days. What a great place that is, and still full of life and bloom in November. That was a BD treat, in a beautiful place. And I even still have a big pot of Salvia leucantha at my house (where I don't currently live, part of the complication) in full bloom. So bits of the garden in me do persist. I'm glad you're okay, too, David. We were actually heading back from Tahlequah Monday night during the storms. It was sunny and beautiful when we left around 5:00 p.m. We got off late, as we usually like to leave by 4:00. It turned out to be a good thing, as the highway we were driving down interesected the path of the storms. The first storm went through ahead of us, and the second one passed by behind us, so we were quite lucky. From what I've heard, the worst of the weather passed just south of where my home is up there, but I won't be able to inspect the place until this weekend. Sally

David where do you get all the nice pottery from? I wish that we had a pottery place up here where I live. I have a nice piece of pottery, that David had sent to me in the last Swap. I just love it, and all my guests ask me where I got it from.I use it for a fruit bowl, because I think it is to nice to keep in the cupboard. You did well again David and I love the plate too!!! Thanks for all the BD wishes all y'all!! Celebrated early due to my work schedule and travel. Sad to say but I had take out in a hotel room last night. LOL Last weekend was a good time though. Friday night we hit the casino and had dinner at one of my favorite steak joints for dinner. It's a local place (with a couple of locations including he casino) that I've enjoyed since the early 90's. Yes, Lars, a little seafood in the form of crab cakes and shrimp cocktail for appy's. Saturday afternoon and evening was spent with some of the same friends and more helping move two huge aqauruims. Another good time...lots of cheap beer....the infamous Crown for me. LOL! Moving 200 plus gallons of water is a challenging task...thankfully several of us still drive trucks. Pizza, wings, and a few games on the wii ended the night LATE. Sunday was brunch at Mom's with the family. Breakfast casserole, potaoes o'brian, biscuits and gravy, and Mom's Bloody Mary's. A good nap in the afternoon rounded out a perfect weekend for me. Thanks again y'all. I think this is the 10th or 11th BD I've celebrated with this cool group of friends. Hard to imagine it's been that long. Sol, we all know where the beer is in that pic my frined...LOLOLOL! I'm not sharing the backseat or shotgun stories....just use your imagination....LOL!! David

I was going to bake myself something for my own birthday dinner tomorrow but we have to take off for Ohio. Maybe a week from tomorrow I'll finally get my B-day dinner...LOL...no biggie.
