Comments (6)DianeKy, I use two all natural cleaning products. When we purchased the softener in 2004, the company that installed it had a promotion, which was a large supply of all natural cleaners, all designed for softened water. All the free cleaners has the water company name slapped on the jugs, so I couldnt tell you what the actual name of the cleaner is; the laundry product is a good green cleaner, low suds, no perfumes etc, better then any brand Ive discovered on store shelves. Gets most things cleaned without spot treating. Really dont need to rinse with vinegar rinse, yet I have always done so and will continue doing so, as I like the extra reassurance that things are rinsed the best they can be. I truly believe it helps the health of the skin, plus allows the body to breathe better. I also use another all natural cleaner in my laundry; it is an Aloe Vera base with coconut oil added, plus the ions in it have been charged or something. I use it for everything, baby/pet baths, taking a shower, wash the car, floor, etc, etc. Was introduced to this cleaner by my father when my daughters diaper rash wouldnt heal for weeks even after trying everything. After 3 days of washing my baby and her cloth diapers in it, her bottom healed up. I was sold. My Dad was told about it by one of his insurance clients, he always had an itching back until he started to shower with it. So he purchased many jugs, as he would share it with his other insurance clients. After he passed on I kept the jugs for myself. The older lady he purchased the jugs from passed on too, so I have only about 5 large jugs left, and I treat it like gold. The reason I treat it like gold; well the product line has been sold to a Sara Lee sister company, they raised the prices and have an awful company politics, so I wont purchase from them or share contact info about them either. This is why I have found an ok alternative at a health food store, and why I am always looking at other choices too. I like to give green cleaners as gifts, and wouldnt mind selling some, but it has to be a great cleaner, with a good company and marketing plan to go along with it. It is going to be hard to find something as great as what I have now, for it just naturally rinses away. We did a whole main level with tile at our other home; afterwards we washed the floor at least 15 times with stuff the installer told us to use, it didnt even appear to be washed once, the grout powder was a nightmare, it clung to everything even the bucket and the mop, had to rinse and rinse in hopes of starting with a fresh bucket of soaping water. Then I thought of the stuff I had from my Dad, we cleaned the floor with it, and it took only two washes to make the floor look great. Plus the dirty grout water within the bucket just poured out as if it was clean water. I didnt even have to rinse the bucket. That is when I understood that it is the soaps we use that adheres the dirt to things, and not the dirt itself. This gold stuff will never allow a bathtub ring, even if you were to wash a pig covered in sludge. This is why it does make a great laundry cleaner, it makes a lot of suds but it doesnt hang on to anything, just rinses away. Since I still have about three of the free large laundry cleaner jugs left, which will last another year or so, and I have 5 jugs of my gold, I have time to look, test and compare other green cleaners, in hopes to find something I could use and promote in the future. When I finally decide what FL to go with, then I will have to discover what future cleaner to use with it I guess. We will be tiling the new laundry room; Ill have to wash the floors with the things I find. Cleaning grout is really a good way to discover how well a product will rinse away the muck. Thanks for the heads up warning DianeKy, and sshrivastava I would never use a harsh detergent with tons of clingy soap scum, so if a vinegar rinse doesnt help rinse away the laundry product then I wouldnt use it....See MorePrice of plywood from China increases due to tariffs?
Comments (16)GreenDesigns, our architect is going to take us over to see some cabinetry that he has done for one of her other clients. They haven't had any problems with it so far. The contractor specified that he will use rabbit joints for the drawer bottoms, not sure what he uses for the cases but I will check. He is purchasing the doors and drawer fronts from a cabinetry company and is painting them himself. They will be flat panels with a 11% bevel on all sides - the style is somewhat modern. He specified in the contract (our request) that Salice and Blum hardware will be used for the hinges and slides respectively. I am not sure what the carcasses are but think you may be referring to the inside and/or outside of the cabinet boxes? He is going to install panels to match the shape of the fronts on what little of the outside boxes that are showing. It will probably just be the painted box under the 12 inch counter overhang. He was planning on just varnishing the inside of the cabinets. It's amazing how little we have thought about the cabinets themselves in this whole remodel process, though they were the main reason we are going through this. That, and to update our 1962 Frigidaire Flair oven! Just to note, he studied geological engineering. He also fabricates stone which is what he loves to do most. (We have picked out a beautiful white macaubas vein cut quartzite for our countertops). He got into the cabinetry and general contracting aspects to support the fabrication aspect of his business....See Moreupdate--more issues w/slab/fabricator? Need advice!
Comments (9)Thank you both for responding! The fabricator is going to contact the supplier about the finish. I'm hoping that maybe honing it can alleviate the etched look. I do believe that some of the reflection has to do with the minerals in the stone. The stone is quartzite, but from testing, it seems to at least have some calcite within it. This is what leads me to believe that some areas may be etched. The stove and old counters were both in place at the time of measure, so I really don't know how the gap got so large. I can see where the old counter ended, and it definitely was closer to the stove. The counter on my smaller cabinet doesn't even go flush with the cabinet edge on either side (it's a very small amount smaller than the cabinet.) The larger cabinet actually does have an overhang towards the stove. (When the stove is centered, there's about the 1/2" on each side.) Unfortunately, I really like the section that was used over the smaller cabinet, and I don't think there's a nice, whiter section left on the slab to replace it. (I worked around a large dark area in my slab to leave it out.) The sinks are mounted to the counter material, not plywood. There's no plywood under the counters from what I see (at least in bathroom). The fabricator would not even call for my slab to get shipped to them until they had my sinks, so that's just another annoying factor in why they should be right! Plus, while waiting for my sinks, the supplier sold my 1st slab--just another little stab! The exact day I dropped off the sinks is when the slab (held w/deposit) was sold. I know mistakes happen, but when spending quite a bit on an expensive material, it's even more upsetting. Plus, after my first slab being sold, these mistakes just seem even worse. Thanks again! I'll be calling Monday to see what their options are. This is a huge help to defend my case in the mean time!...See MoreOrdering cabinets direct from China (repost)
Comments (80)Mark took responsibility for his minor mistakes and had a good experience. He ended up feeling good and believing he had made a good decision. He had done a lot of research before deciding to work with VOVO. He is pleased with his new kitchen, in the way a balanced individual is pleased. Notably, he didn't say it was the best business decision he had ever made in his life. He would have sounded overly-excitable and discredited himself if he had said that. Why did Mark have a good experience whereas a client who ordered from VOVO after learning of his success here on this page did not? There are many possibilities. He didn't blame VIVO for things that weren't their fault. He took control of his installation and was able to make adjustments as needed when the unexpected occurred. He maintained a positive relationship with VOVO from start to finish. I believe that I can have a good experience with the company, similar to Mark's....See Moreupholsteryexpert
