Fabric Stores in High Point and Hickory???

I was hoping one of you furniture shoppers would remember the fabric stores in NC. There is one in High Point that is the actual street address--like '252' on Elm Street. The other one is in Hickory/Lenoir almost across the street (ok, more of a Highway) from the Kincaid, Bernhardt stores. I cannot remember the name of either store which makes it darn hard to call them up and try to order something. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance....

Any advice on what to expect if shopping in person for fabric in NC? Will be in NC in several weeks and am planning my itinerary. Am in the market for drapery fabric.

Someone might correct me if this has changed in the last couple of years, but I believe Thomasville has a minimum retail price (MRP) policy - in other words, anyone selling their furniture can't go below a certain price (might not apply to clearance/showroom floor items, though). When I was looking at their furniture a few years back, I managed to find a few places more local that would also offer MRP (and low/free shipping). In fact, I even saw some advertisements guaranteeing that they'd have the lowest prices anywhere on Thomasville (and of course, they would, just like all the others at MRP). The dealers in North Carolina (more than one, including Rose) would not go below MRP, but would offer free shipping. Combined with possibly no sales tax, the NC stores could still come out cheaper, but you might want to check with local places to see if they'll match the MRP - if so, you're not likely to save much by going to North Carolina, and you also get to support local businesses. I also visited the Thomasville factory store (in Thomasville, not in High Point), and they had several pieces at _really_ good prices. But, it was hit and miss - just what they had in the store at the time. When I went, they didn't have any complete sets, and most (not all) of the pieces had defects of one sort or another, ranging from unnoticable to major damage. This store was interesting in an "if you're around there already" sense, but certainly not worth making a trip from California for.

I did that last year, needed to buy for an entire house (replacement due to fire loss). What I found most useful was the huge selection, all in one place. Went to several of the outlets in both HighPoint and Hickory, but ended up buying everything from FurnitureLand South. They had the best prices and the largest selection. I was able to compare things I already priced locally (Chgo area), so I was confident with pricing. Also, they had better pricing on all items I was able to find on Wayfair and Overstock. At a certain $$$ point you get free shipping. If your sister lives in the area, even better!

The one I liked best is in Hickory and it was called Hollin Gate---HUGE selection, GREAT prices. If I recall correctly, it was closed on Monday so we actually missed it a few times. However, when we finally were there on a Monday, I was very pleased. I was looking for a cream upholstery fabric for an older couch (50 years, custom made) that I would not be able to replace for less than a LOT! I found a linen/cotten blend in the shade I wanted...It was $7/yd and had 24 yards on the roll. I only needed 18 yards, but they gave it to me for $6 if i bought the whole roll---I ended up with enough to do the sofa and an ottoman and still have a lot left over. The fabric was discontinued and it had retailed for around $50 a yard. I was very pleased---as was my daughter who was getting the couch!! There were a few other places in Hickory..some had fabrics up to $300/yd...we found that if we asked anyone from the area, they were quite helpful about pointing out places to go---this was based on a trip we took last spring. Regarding the store name similar to a street number in Hickory, believe you were thinking of 1502 Fabrics (http://www.1502fabrics.com) - I was quite pleased with my shopping experience yesterday.
