16 Favorite Chairs from High Point Market
Finds from the world's largest furnishing show: Big patterns, chic lines, and a chair worthy of the Starship Enterprise
After spending last week shopping the 10 million square feet of showrooms at the Fall 2011 High Point Furniture Market, the soles of my tennis shoes are still smoking! Here are my personal picks for favorite chairs from the largest home furnishings trade show in the world. All are either available through your interior designer, or you can check the manufacturers' websites for retailers near you.
I found this beauty in the Vanguard showroom and thought it was one of the most elegant chairs at the entire show. The shape is just to-die-for and it is super comfortable. The large-scale pattern in chocolate, amethyst and yellow is a show-stopper!
I loved the Cline high-backed chair with this bold yellow, white and gray stripe fabric shown at Hickory Chair. A very fresh look on a classic style.
Large scale patterns were evident in all of the showrooms. This citron and cream pattern was a real standout. Also from Hickory Chair.
Bolier is one of my favorite furniture lines. Their graceful, pieces are perfect for clean-lined, contemporary spaces. Many of their pieces are quite minimal, but never boring, as you can see from the detail on this chair back.
Sometimes these sleek, swooping lines look great, but aren't comfortable. I definitely was surprised at how wonderfully supportive and comfy this contemporary swivel chair was at American Leather.
Very Star Trek, don't you think? I'd fight Captain Kirk for it, though. Comfortable and it swivels too! From Star International.
This laser-cut, natural leather seat has just enough give. Perfect for a super contemporary space. From Modloft.
I lean toward contemporary pieces so am normally not into wingbacks, but I loved this updated one at American Leather. The lines, color, and large-scale pattern all work for a more transitional or contemporary space.
Bernhardt had another great looking wingback. The soft gray upholstery, clean lines and lack of nail heads all convert this classic into a transitional piece.
American Leather was one of my favorite showrooms. This little T-back chair fit me just right. The back is at just the right height for resting your arms.
Tara Shaw Maison had the most unique dining chair. I loved the subdued scenery of ancient ruins on the upholstery and the detail of the small silver handle on the top of the back.
This all-wood dining chair from Copeland has such a beautiful shape; it looks like it might just take flight. It works well with either mid-century modern or contemporary spaces. For a non-upholstered chair it was surprisingly comfortable.
The two-color fabric application with nail heads and wood cap on top are sensational details on these dining chairs from Vanguard.
This chair from Taylor King is a beauty for traditional style, but the yellow and gray upholstery are absolutely current.
Dorya's high-end furniture line featured accent fabrics to give classic lines a shot of style.
I just think this chair is unique. Love the suede leather wrap around back with contrasting seat. Just plain cool! By Vanguard.
