Natuzzi Editions leather recliner quality
Comments (1)Natuzzi is a huge mid-range producer of leather furniture, competing with LaZBoy, Flexsteel and many other companies. The quality is usually very good for the price. I suspect that the reason you see so many complaints is mostly that Natuzzi has so many customers that if even 1/2 of 1% of its customers are dissatisfied that's still alot of complaints. You see the same phenomenon with LaZBoy and Flexsteel and other large low and mid-end furniture companies. Another thing to take into consideration is that many forum members who voice negative opinions are comparing Natuzzi (and LaZBoy and Flexsteel) to high end companies like Hancock & Moore. Natuzzi is not made as well as high-end furniture, but it is also far less expensive. $499 is a good price for a genuine top grain leather (not bonded or bycast) recliner as long as it is comfortable for you. If it is comfortable my vote is for you to keep it....See MoreQuestion about quality of Bradington Young leather recliners
Comments (14)If you paid $ 7K for a B-Y sofa, someone took you to the cleaners and back again. You overpaid by double for any sofa in the line. I've been a B-Y dealer for over 30 years, and quite honestly there's a lot of bad information in the above threads. I have very few issues with B-Y, it's made in the USA and they back their product well. While its not at the level of Hancock and Moore, it's not H&M price points, either. Most people don't know this, but the single largest cost in making a leather sofa is the hide itself, and B-Y uses good leathers, same as Hancock and Moore. The second largest cost factor is the foam (not the frame as everything thinks). Here's where premium lines like H&M excel, they use the best foam and lots of it in places where B-Y skimps, the back panels, side panels, arm caps, etc. Third is the frame, B-Y is an all-plywood line, H&M is a mix of plywoods in motion pieces, and still uses solid hardwood in stationary. Finally labor, and here H&M does detail tailoring that you won't find on B-Y, not even close. Myself? I buy Hancock and Moore for my home. If you are buying leather motion furniture, the most important elements for longevity are the quality of the leather itself (should be all top-grain, no bonded, no bi-cast, no splits, no vinyl combos) and the mechanism itself. Mechs should only be either Leggett and Platt or Ultra-Mek, and both are marked with a label on the mechanism itself when you extend it. Here's what their labels look like on the mechs, the L&P label is the lower one. ....See Morequality details for leather recliner couch??
Comments (4)Kathy, When shopping for a leather sofa with recliner outboard stations (at each end), then you most definitely want to ask some questions if you are shopping quality over price point. Leather is split at the tannery. All upholstery uses top grain (the upper half) and split grain (lower half) is more suited for industrial leather uses. Rather, decide if you want a Finished Leather or an Aniline Dye for your piece. Both have their pros and cons, you can do a search here for the differences. Hardwood frames - definitely. However, just as important is how the frame members are attached. The highest industry standard is currently double-doweled, screwed and glued. Look for that phrase. To test a motion pieces rigidity and strength, push laterally on the arms and check the flex. All motion furniture will have flex, but you will notice the better brands move far less than cheaper products. Motion furniture is always difficult to make stiff, because all portions of the piece are in motion. Mechanisms. The best in the industry are Leggett and Platt brand. All the top companies use them, and they carry strong warranties. Mechanisms that operate on a cable are more reliable over time than those that are push-back operated. You also have power recline options, which have more positions you can stop in, but also need a power outlet nearby (and its a heavier, more expensive piece). Check and see if there is leather all around the unit. Many companies in the mid-level line will use vinyl or bi-cast in areas that are not on the seating surfaces. Corded seams and exotic stitching are done by the top companies, but hard to find in mid-level units. Hancock and Moore and Leathercraft have many options in those categories. I'm sure there may be others, but those are the companies I'm familiar with. When buying reclining sofa units, pay particular attention to size of everyone using them. If you husband is over 6' 1", he may not be comfortable in a standard height reclining sofa. Conversely, if you are under 5'4", you may get lost in the cushions of one that fits him well. I have a 7-year old dual recliner sofa by Bradington-Young that has done well in the media room. Not sure I'd buy it again however. What works just as well - if not better - is to get a large leather ottoman that you can push up to a regular sofa and everyone can use a part of it (40" - 50" Square, etc). Not as limiting as a recliner unit and had more flexibility of use. Duane Collie The Keeping Room...See MoreISO Quality Leather Reclining Sofa & Loveseat or Sectional
Comments (1)Every one you listed is a lower end promotional line. A step up would be Flexsteel ( both imported (Latitude's) or domestic models) Much better warranties. http://www.flexsteel.com/ Also Comfort Design, (a division of Klaussner but much better made), http://comfortdesignfurniture.com/DefaultConsumer.aspx MotionCraft (division of Sherrill) higher end http://www.motioncraft-furniture.com/ Hancock & Moore, Higher end http://hancockandmoore.com/index.asp Taylor King, Higher end , not as many opitons http://www.taylorking.com/ I would be wary of buying used motion. Most likely worn out then sold to you. Chris...See Morefreethinker99
