This doesn't look like Monstera to me, ID Help?
Comments (3)Can you post a closeup photo of a single leaf blade (both sides)? I have no idea why but many companies call anything with a leaf that looks similar to a juvenile Monstera a Monstera sp. when many are Asia species from other genera. The internodes between the blades appears to be quite a long distance apart so if you can measure that as well that could help. Another clue can come from the shape of the petiole. Will you take a close look at the stalk that supports a few blades and tell us the shape. It may be round but it can also have a canal or grooves and may even be an odd shape. All these clues help. No insult to Glasshouse but they are very bad at using incorrect names on aroids and this does appear to be an aroid vine. By the way, there are currently only 35 accepted species of Monstera in the world and all come from Central and South America. Dr. Tom Croat at the Missouri Botanical Garden is doing a new paper on the genus and the number will likely jump to 50 but most juvenile forms are not documented and this one is definitely a juvenile. Comments (22)Vicky & others, I too have problems now & then. There is no rhyme or reason, apparently. Whenever I contact Tamara, I get the feeling she thinks I'm an idiot beause of course the problem doesn't happen for her - & it does go away the next day...only to reappear a week or so later. I actually had a different problem just last night -- a survey box kept popping up every single time I moved from one thread to another - even when I repeatedly clicked on 'no thanks'. Of course, it didn't happen for Tamara, & I've only been here today, so we'll see. I suspect it won't happen today -- simply the law of averages. Or is that Murphy's Law?? I forget! LOL I do get disgusted, & if it weren't for the friendships formed here, I would probably leave. It seems with the number of us that have problems things will get better - we can hope! :)...See Moreocd gc doesn't like tile around window, help me please.
Comments (61)ptamom, florantha, fori, and trailrunner - thanks so muck for your feedback. Thanks holligator for the grout color feedback. I ended up trying to match the more beige tones in the tile to tone down the greens and yellows. I think it works. My one concern is that the sealer will make it darker. I don't think your grout looks lighter, just really great. muspic, I agree with you. I think once it is painted (later today) and the herbs are in place it will look fine. At least that is my hope. Thanks laurainlincoln. Staying strong here. It is a working kitchen, sayde. It's purpose is for serious cooking and not so serious enjoying of the cooking. It's about balance and I'm really trying to achieve that here. So here's the latest update....Finished tiling Sunday and grouting yesterday. Still have some touch ups and csulking to do today but he did it. When all was said and done he did say he was very pleased with the results. That's a very high accolade coming from him. Here's some pics! I love it! I love it so much I'm not even going to mind paint window trim today :) And I detest retailed trim painting because it's so time consuming. Thanks for all of your support. The end result was worth all of the angst. I'll post another pic when the herbs are in and it's what I hope it will be....See MoreMathilde doesn't like me!
Comments (11)I was sure my new Hoya curtisii hated me... It too was very beautiful UNTIL I had it in my clutches. I think it got stressed with the soil change (it was in almost coffee-ground fine soil). I forced myself not to touch it after I watered the new soil twice, and half the leaves died off. But FINALLY it has normal color again and it's starting to 'sit up' more happily. Maybe some Hoyas are just jerks... until they get warmed up to you? ;)...See Moremarie_ndcal
