Because of the snow storm, half of the guests backed out.

The ones who came each brought some thing.

I make a shrimps and scallops dish, and a mushroom/bean dip dish.

It was a fun evening, I won $100.00 more than enough to pay for food. :-)

I agree with Jen. The jersey thing is no different than spending money on anything else one enjoys. The only jersey I would probably buy is a baseball jersey because it's the only sport one can actually afford to go to around here. Can't get tickets to a Giants game and even if I could, no way could I afford it. Rangers and Knicks are almost the same. Can get tickets but they are crazy expensive. We do try to go to a baseball game or two each season. Baseball is our favorite, DS plays serious competitive youth baseball, and it's relatively affordable. We even travel to Baltimore at least once to go to an Orioles game. I do buy DS jerseys, but I buy them at Marshalls or places like that and they are not crazy expensive. I love when I leave my office in midtown Manhattan on a night when the NY Rangers are at the Garden. It's amazing how many people I see walking towards the Garden wearing Ranger jerseys. Not sure why, but don't see Knick jerseys when they are playing. And basketball is way more popular than hockey. I went to a college that has football team (Rutgers Univ). I went to all the games when I was in college. And I still live within 20 minutes of my college. And I'm a huge sports fan. But, I just cannot get into college football and never could once I left college. I'm not sure why. Maybe because we have so many pro teams in this area. Or maybe because the players change so often (only there for 4 years max) I don't feel the connection. I did recently go to a Princeton Univ hockey game for the 1st time. My DS has been asking to go to a hockey game for years. Can't afford Ranger tickets. Well, I could afford the seats way up, but I've sat there for Ranger games and there's no way I would take a kid there. It's crazy! Anyway, it was AWESOME. Will definitely be doing that again very soon.

Nobody's coming over, so it'll be just me and hubby. I think we'll probably have nachos. Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos 1 can refried beans 1 lb. hamburger, browned & drained 1 8 oz. pkg shredded cheddar cheese Heat oven to 350 Spread refried beans on Doritos, and lay them side-by-side on a cookie sheet, just one layer. I can get about a third of a normal bag on my cookie sheet. Sprinkle crumbled, cooked hamburger over the chips, then sprinkle shredded cheese. I have a pretty heavy hand when it comes to the cheese, so I use the whole pkg. Bake 10 - 15 minutes, until cheese is melted & chips are hot. Eat immediately. Hubby and I can wipe out one cookie sheet between us. Sprinkle

I have the 1 ½ and I love it. The large side fits all of my biggest sheet pans, roasting pans, etc. I've never not had anything fit in the large side. I like to be able to have dirty dishes in one side and have a separate, clean side to use for other things (draining pasta, washing fruits and vegetables, discarding food scraps down the disposal, etc). I have also been using a nifty roll up drying rack (as suggested by romy!) which lays across the large bowl so as to not take up any counter space, gives me access to the large bowl underneath since it only goes halfway across, leaves me the small sink for other tasks, AND rolls up and stores neatly under the sink when not in use! (photo from Bed, Bath, & Beyond...not my sink)

Also a fan of Xochitl chips-- they are thin and so crisp! I will be making buffalo chicken nachos. I salt and pepper skinless chicken breasts then add a few pats of butter and completely douse the breasts in Frank's Hot Sauce. Bake until cooked through then shred with a fork when cooled enough to work with. I mix a little more hot sauce into the shredded chicken and refrigerate overnight. Right before serving I assemble blue corn chips, chicken, finely diced jalapeno, scallions and a mix of cheddar, montery jack and manchego (or a mix of whatever I have!). Bake on a lowish temperature (300ish) for about 15 min. I drizzle more hot sauce and some ranch dressing on top (I don't care for blue cheese) and serve with sliced cucumbers around the perimeter.. and extra ranch dressing. Black bean nachos are also a favorite-- and now that I've thought of them, I may change my mind and go with that instead. I assemble with all the same above-- but I add diced tomatoes.

Actually, I was just thinking "SuperBowl", "football", "injuries", was that Peyton Manning who bled all over the shrimp?

I also had a knee jerk reaction to the first picture. Probably has something to do with the fact that my son was just diagnosed over the weekend with ulcerative colitis.

Just hits too close to home this week, I guess.

Sorry, dcarch, I couldn't help myself, I got all "football excited", you know, and I was seriously cheering for the Saints, so I'm happy!

Actually, the scallops look good, I love 'em and don't make them often, they're darned expensive here. Is that sweet and sour sauce? I like sweet and sour with calimari, so I'd probably like it with scallops too.

Thanks Ann. It appears that whenever I plan a party, something happens. There was a four day blackout one time I planned two big parties. Good thing I have a generator.

Haha! Sometimes my photos can get crony. I got some extra corn leftover from making the black bean corn dip. Didnt want to throw them away.

Thanks, Rusty. Yes, I make a big platter of fruits and fruit sorbet. One couple was from New Orleans, we were all happy that the Saints won.

I did plan to make salsa with the beans, corn, and avocados. Unfortunately the avocados were not ripe enough.

Thanks. One guest brought some wings in aluminum foil. So I did some impromptu origami with the foil.

Sorry for what? I was LOL. The sauce was made with a lot of stuff, but the main ingredient was Sriracha and leftover cranberry sauce from the freezer.
