A taste of summer! Sharon's (chase) homemade dill pickles from her kitchen to mine! Ohhhhhh, these are sooooo good! Thank you, thank you, Sharon!

Oh Teresa so glad they arrived safe and sound..the tracking says they are still at the border! LOL Should have told you they are best after being chilled ...guess I'm too late!! LOL

Nice to see that you have a lime tree. I have way more leaves on mine than I can use, and I also use the limes - they are very juicy, unlike the Yuzu lemons. You could probably grow a Yuzu tree - they are hardy to zone 7, I believe. I make gyoza - the Japanese version of pot stickers, and I always saute them in a small amount of oil first and then cook them with the lid on the saute pan with a tablespoon or two of water to steam them and cook them the rest of the way. I use a heavy anodized aluminum pan that is non-stick, and they do get crisp - at least enough for me. I'm a bit more familiar with Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese cooking than I am with Chinese or Korean, and the main Korean community is closer to me than the Chinese. The best Chinese restaurants are in Monterey Park, which is about an hour away, almost twice as far from me as Koreatown. Do you use round or square wrappers for your pot stickers? Threejs, is this it? Cinnabon Likes These are the best Cinnamon rolls. Make sure to watch them closely, and do not over bake. This is the recipe for using the Bread Machine for the dough. 1/4 c water 1 c milk 1/4 c butter or margarine, melted 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/2 pkg (3.4oz) instant vanilla pudding (I use cheesecake flavor.) 1 T sugar 1/2 t salt 4 c bread flour 2 1/2 t yeast Place ingredients in machine following manufactures instructions. (I warm milk in microwave with water, adding in softened or melted butter. I beat the egg and mix some of the milk mixture into the egg to warm it. Then dump it in with milk, water and butter. Then I add all that in where liquid is called for.) Set for sweet bread dough cycle. After complete, remove from machine and let sit for about 10 minutes. Roll out to 17"x10"(approx.) rectangle. Mix together 1 c brown sugar and 2 t cinnamon. Smear with butter to within 1" and sprinkle generously with brown sugar/cinnamon. Roll tightly from long end, pinching closed when completely rolled. Slice in 1/2"-1". Place in well greased pans.(I use 9x13 and 9" round. Spaced well apart. For GROWING room.) The original recipe called for 3 9" pans. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until light golden. DO NOT OVERBAKE.(They become tough if over baked.) Frost within 10 minutes with cream cheese frosting. Cream Cheese Frosting Mix 4 oz cream cheese, 1/4 c butter(or all cream cheese), 1 t vanilla and enough powdered sugar to make it thick, about 3 cups. Add 1-2 T of milk a little at a time to make it of thick spreading consistency.

Jane, I just recalled another reason that brief tornado only downed the 3 papaya trees and not my banannas. The tallest of the bananas at that time, were only standing at a height of 7 - 7 1/2 ft approx., and growing on the other side of a 6 + ft tall shadow box fence. So the fierce winds were mostly diffused going thru the fence and the few tips over 6 + ft were only gently shuffled around. The 3 papaya trees however, were not the lower-growing Red Ladys, but the normal big skinny guys. My neighbor on the other side of the shadow box fence, ( a different park ) bemoaned the loss of the tall papaya's, said they gave his property " a tropical look I really liked. Will you be replanting more papaya trees like them ? " " Er, no " is all I said. Having only planted them trees a few months earlier ( fastest growing trees I have EVER SEEN,..realize tho they're not really trees. ( smile ) ),..and not having enjoyed eating even ONE,..then the 2 1/2 days labor digging up the roots, sawing the stumps, branches up, hauling it all out to the street for WM to haul off,..naw, no need to dim his rosy impressions ! ( smile ) PS : As a retiree, no need to work more than 3 hours a day in my " plantation " ! have too many other " cool " , stress-free endeavors to occupy my time ! ( smile )

Plllog, I Googled your wine song. As I said earlier, the concept of folk songs is not French. Translating songs is not cultural appropriation. And with your Bottle of Wine song, you have confounded many concepts. Bottle of Wine is not considered a French folk song. I saw the subject line and thought that someone was going to mention the dusting of snow that parts of San Diego County received yesterday - that we haven't had in years!

But I was much relieved - and impressed - to see the pickles! They look YUMMY!

Those do look good, and such a pretty jar. I'm thinking of planting cukes for the first time this summer, just so I can make pickles. Those pickles are an inspiration for doing just that!
