I don't disagree but assuming I left everything as is - I think the budget on a project like this would be more than I was willing to spend...I never realized how much split level homes irritated me until we moved here lol

I'm not sure what you mean by staining fiberglass. It can't take a stain the way wood can. Do you mean use a wood look color? Since there is wood right next to the doors I think it would be difficult to find the right color. For the front door, you could look at colors found in the stone. Without seeing a picture of your whole house I'm not sure whether this would work for your garage doors too or not. How close is the garage to the front door? Is there any stone close to the garage door? More pictures would be helpful.

create phase two and separate the garage entry with a buffer zone. you have the abundant space on dining room side so i could move the door but I would want something done in addition. these show a separation / zone between dining and the in/out to garage. you have space so you can figure it out when you are ready. you would be moving or removing the ceiling fixture as the center will be different. Besides the issue of storage/ getting a main traffic pattern out of the center of the kitchen is a long term " better solution " You have to work w your square footage and make the pathways and zones within your space look good and function.....but you can.....
