Foam Mattress Toppers?
Comments (13)I don't think there is ANY harm in posting in both places..if someone doesn't want to read..no one is making them. As far as I know, you can't remove posts once they are made...I see NO problem as far as I am concerned with posts in both places. I think personally it was rude to complain of such when tons of these forums will show multiple posts. This is a slow moving forum on top of it. I guess there are cranky people on the net just as in real life. I am sorry for that. As far as the foam...buy the thickest you can. I love mine. I have the dense 2 inch pad on top of a brand new mattress. I paid about 150 dollars for it. Keep in mind, don't buy cheap...you get what you pay for..I would not be without..it is like sleeping in a cloud. I never want to get out of the darn thing and I rarely wake with a backache anymore. I have less than desirable sleeping habits that often caused back troubles. They are rare now...I believe it is the pad that is the answer in combination with a memory pillow for necks. My two children just graduated from College in recent years and I wish those pads would of exsisted for them but they did not then...or at least not in my area. I would definately buy one for a college student. Those beds are nasty...and who knows what slept on them or how clean they were kept...dust mites I am sure abound in them. Don't hesitate...but check your size..you may or may not need extra long. Congradulations on sending your child off to college..it is a exciting and fun road to watch your children travel....See MorePillow top mattress vs Firm mattress with Latex Topper
Comments (7)Never posted on this forum, usually I'm over in Kitchens. But I just had to give you my 2 cents. We had a memory foam mattress, it ended up being returned after about 20 months. The depressions were horrible. Also, the foam didn't breathe, and we were so hot at night. We ended up going to the Sealy Spring Free latex mattress. It is the best thing we could have done. It was more money, but it really is fantastic. We aren't hot anymore, it supports you in the places where you need it. I highly recommend it. The most important piece of advice I read while mattress shopping was to remember that the mattress is NOT a luxury item. It is utilitarian, it is meant to serve a purpose. You can make it look luxurious by adding your bedding to it, but it's purpose is to help you get a good night's sleep and wake up with no back pain! This is why we didn't go for a pillow top or anything that was so soft and "luxurious". I found a lot of good information on this website. Even though the guy who writes it sells mattresses, he is so honest in his answers. And it seems as much as he would love to sell a mattress to you, he wants consumers to be informed and really doesn't seem to mind if you are buying elsewhere. So check it out. Good luck! Comments (185)Well, I'd be more worried about finding a replacement I love than getting rid of one I didn't, lol. I did buy a really nice mail order pure natural organic latex mattress that is really comfy. Firm on one side and a bit softer on the other, but neither is really soft like a memory foam or gel one is. Let me see if I can figure out the brand and will let you know. The first one they sent was an undersized queen and they promptly replaced it. The second one is better but they are not generous in their measurements. It's in a guest room and everyone seems to like it. I'll come back and post the name when I find it. eta: that was easy, it is Zenhaven. They have the Zenhaven and the Saatva hybrid; I got the Zenhaven. It is flippable, so should last almost a lifetime. The last pure latex mattress I had lasted 40 years, lol. Comments (16)Chispa, you are awesome! Here are the mattress topper descriptions: "LUXURY The Luxury is a stretched surface, adaptable top mattress with a soft cottonfilled summer side, a wool-filled winter side and a central section containing Talalay latex. Practical and comfortable all year round. Height: 9 cm (3.5â³). PREMIUM Top mattress Premium boasts a talalay latex core with a fibre filling. Comes with a washable, overlap-stitched stretch fabric with embroidered logo. A beautifully soft, highly adaptable top mattress featuring an eye-catching design. Height: 7 cm (2.8â³). PRESTIGE Prestige is a highly adaptable model filled with natural latex, and includes a removable stretch material cover, machine washable at 60ðC (140F). Height: 5 cm (2â³)." Although, seriously pricey. A commenter on Remodelista wrote: "FYI to other Remodelista readers, these beds start at $14,000 and go up to about $25,000. They actually cost even more than Hastens ($10-20k) or Duxiana ($6-15k). For these prices they better be stuffed with hair from unicorn tails." LOL. But knowing what the toppers are made of is useful. Edited to add: unicorn tail hair-stuffed beds are unfortunately not in the budget.
