Sands : I had one in my Pond Waterfall last year.
His Body was about 10 inches long.
He would catch worms in the air when I threw them.
One day he was gone. Maybe a Hawk or something got him.

We used to catch big frogs here and have fried frog legs, but the frogs aren't as plentiful or as big as they used to be, too much environmental damage to their habitat, I understand.

Just guessing, not surfing, I'm betting close to $35.00 a pound, maybe more. Fresh Frogs legs in restaurants are crazy expensive!

Believe it or not the Great Wall sells it's frogs for $5 a pound!

Cool place - lotsa crazy stuff I've never seen/tasted (yet!), humongous live fish, eels, sea creatures, wild looking produce, sauces, pastes, dried spices and roots. I could wander around in there for hours!

at $5.00 a lb I guess a whole bullfrog would be $8 or 9 a piece

My dad used to catch bullfrogs in our pond. He loved frog legs. Dad's been gone almost 9 years and we have oodles bullfrogs in our pond now. I love frog legs but I'm not sure I have the stomach to clean them. Dad always gave them to me cleaned and ready to cook. Hmmmm....

I used to have a bullfrog in my pond, but he got killed by a raccoon that also murdered most of my fish. The raccoon left the frog dead beside the pond, uneaten.

To me, frogs' legs taste a bit like alligator tail, but not at all like chicken. I don't understand the chicken reference either. To me the flavor resembles sole more than it does chicken (and it does not resemble chicken legs at all), but I would never confuse any of these with each other, although they are all very mild in flavor, if you consider only white meat chicken. When I get Cajun food in Austin, I frequently order frogs' legs and alligator at the same time. I have a slight preference for alligator over frog, and the texture of the two is more similar than to the texture of chicken breast. They aren't that expensive in the restaurant.

in answer to my own question what do you do with the rest of the frog after you eat the legs

I search using google and found this recipe for stuffed frog

6 lg Edible frogs, skinned, whole
1 c Finely chopped pork
1/2 Head garlic, chopped fine
1/4 Vinegar
1 Heaping teaspoon brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

And just when you all thought it was safe to go back into the
water... The infamous clothesline-dried frog recipe!

Mix pork with garlic, vinegar and seasonings. Stuff body cavities of
well cleaned frogs. Rub with seasoning and hang in the sun to dry.
Fry in deep, hot fat until frogs are a golden brown.

at $5 a lb could be expensive dinner but who has clothes line to hang them out to dry on?

Had a crazy friend once. He and a buddy were going to go frog gigging one night. But they stopped by the local watering hole (which was attached to an upscale restaurant) before they set out through the sloughs and bayous. The two had too many tasty adult beverages and decided not to go gigging. My friend asked the restauranteur for some uncooked frog legs to take home, so DW wouldn't know where he had spent the evening. The restaurant owner gave him a package of frog legs wrapped in white freezer paper. When my friend got home, he threw the package in the freezer. The next morning he told his wife that he had already cleaned the frog legs, wrapped then and put them in the freezer. She got them out to have for dinner several days later. She thawed them and unwrapped them to cook for dinner. Imagine the look on her face ... and his...when they saw the legs were not only cleaned, they were already breaded! BUSTED!

LOL, bbstx, they never came breaded here either! I've gone out gigging frogs, but I didn't like spearing them, I'd rather have them given to me ready to cook. Breaded would be good. (grin)

Elery's Stepmom has that restaurant in Lebanon, Ohio, The Houston. One of their specials is frog legs, I don't remember what the heck they charge, though.

I thought Alligators were maneaters . Didn't know Man were Alligator eaters.

I have enough to think about, with just the Italian food and Waffles.
With a couple glasses of Wine, I might try Frog legs and with another glass I might try Alligator Tails, or even my own cooking.
