Help, please: GE gas Cooktop 'sparkers / starters' keep Sparking.
Comments (3)This happens occaisionally to us on our Kitchen Aid cooktop (old). It's almost always because water has gotten down to the electronics below the cooktop. Unplugging, and letting it dry out (a day or 2?), then replugging it in seems to work every time. Without igniters, we resort to matches....See MoreGas oven (Capital) turning itself on
Comments (6)I second BFF's recommendation. Call them directly on Monday morning at 8:00 Pacific. Ask for Bob, the head of service. I know sometimes another person or two has done some service call intake, but insist on Bob if possible. Then follow-up with him every day or two if he hasn't been back in touch with you. Independent service companies doing work for Capital (and every other appliance manufacturer out there) are hit and miss. If you're not happy or haven't gotten resolution with whomever they've sent, call Bob immediately afterwards and tell him what you've experienced....See MorePilot Light on Gas Fireplace - Keep it Lit Year Round?
Comments (1)I have a Fireplace Xtrordinair natural gas insert & I leave the pilot light on because: 1) The owner's manual recommends leaving it on; 2) In my part of the country, I never know when I might need it (even in the summer months); and, 3) To relight, the manufacturer says to first remove the glass front as a safety precaution in case there's a gas build-up that needs to escape, so it's just easier for me to just leave the pilot on year 'round -- don't think it uses that much gas or generates much heat....See Moregas fireplace shuts itself off - then restarts
Comments (1)It may be too late for this, but here goes. I have a gas free standing stove that gets intermittant something like you're talking about. I'm suspecting the thermopile. Not the thermocouple. If that were bad the pilot would go out. If you can get to the wires coming from the thermopile where they connect to the gas valve, you should measure a voltage there of at least 500mv with the thermostat open. You may be right on the cusp and it's basically a crap shoot if the burner will turn on or not. I couldn't get the darn thing out. It's in there so tight I was afraid I'd break it so I just filed the side that faces the pilot and would you believe it hasn't acted up since! Keep in mind that everything I said relates to a piezo ignition system. Another obvious thing could be something as simple as cleaning your thermostat contacts. Jim...See Moreoruboris
