Speaking of Scones

I absolutely LOVE Au bon Pain's orange scones. I've tried to recreate them and tho I get the icing right (the easiest part, of course!) mine never have that deep orange color and flavor theirs do. I've been hesitant to replace all the milk/cream (I make them with each depending on what I have at hand) with orange juice - maybe that's the problem? I added a few spoons of frozen orange juice concentrate last time I made them and while they had an orange flavor, they weren't the same. Maybe they use an extract? Food coloring? The color isn't even an issue for me - it's that orange taste. The zest does add a lot of flavor, but I don't like a lot of tough pieces of zest. I'm careful to only get the orange part of the peel because I don't like that hard white part. I just don't know how they get the intense orange flavor in the actual scone.

Any ideas?
