Neighbours cat just killed my last chipmunk :(
Comments (103)Well I don’t see many chipmunks but I know they are very cute. You had 5 of them? And now you have zero. I think it’s rude of the owner of the cat to do nothing about it. As you can see on my profile picture I have a cat and he also Kills birds. In fact, I have saved numerous birds form him. If the lady won’t do anything about it I suggest that whenever your chipmunk goes outside you should go with him/her just to be safe, another option is keep your chipmunk more indoors than outside, yes I know he has to feel the nature but you should get it like some toys or like some nature in your house. The last one is get a large cage and put it outdoors, also make sure the cat can’t squeeze it or stretch the wires of the cage....See MoreAm I right to be annoyed or am I just being a crappy daughter??
Comments (12)I finally got to read your whole post. I bet you are feeling like tearing your hair out because she sure doesn't seem to value your time or that you have other things to do. I am so sorry. My dad will be 91 in July and had hip/femur surgery in November and, sadly, it just hasn't healed. The next step is a partial hip replacement with a titanium rod inserted in the femur. What I have noticed is that on the days he has pain he can't seem to hand me his lunch or dinner plate or mail in order for me to clean up. I think it is a mental decision that they can't do the simplest of things. I think contacting any senior centers or any senior programs available through government services might be a great start. There are organizations that will take your mom grocery shopping or to appointments if they are fairly local. Some charge, some take donations and some are totally free. Many grocery stores have online ordering and will deliver to her home for a fee. That could be a lifesaver for sure. Do insist on being in charge of her calendar or you won't be able to attend or drive. She cannot make decisions for you when you are the ride. Let us know what you have decided to do and know that we all support you and most have gone through (or are going through) similar situations. The is a great place to vent! Comments (19)I'm a firm believer in a flex/getaway room, but you have plenty of those. I agree that what this house needs is one large living area for the family to gather. If you are hoping for your children to grow up and for you to retire in this house, this plan is not the plan for a large family gathering! A couple of friends, kids, their spouses, a couple of grandkids, and that room is going to seem like a closet. (With three sons-in-law and 3 grandkids, I know of which I speak! :) ) Anyway, the back six feet of the room are dedicated to hall area, so you won't have any furniture there, and the opening to the other two walls have doors on them. This makes the family room about 13' X 15', which seems EXTREMELY small for a house this size. You will have to squeeze behind the chairs to walk into the "getting away" room and you will have to squeeze behind chairs to get out to the porch. Where else you would you put additional seating? It's a nice plan, and I like the upstairs, especially, but it doesn't seem suited to your purposes. If I were building a house to grow old in, I would want something more spacious than the study/bathroom on the first floor and certainly more closet space. Perhaps you could put more money into more square footage there, and finish out some of the rest of the house at a later time. Good luck! There's certainly a lot to be excited about in this plan. :)...See MoreProblem with neighbour's cat
Comments (26)Uh-huh. Clearly, no one (at least those willing to post it) share my opinion about a cat's fitness to endure the rigors of the great outdoors. I've lived on the same 3 acres for nearly 17 years now. In that time we've had 7 cats. One died of natural causes, one was "inherited" and she was it by car 1 1/2 yrs. after she was "moved in". She originally lived "next door" and her territory included the area across the road. Another was attacked by a fox and I took him to the vet.; it SUCKED but he was nearly 14, already showing signs of kidney failure (the boney spine and increased water intake) and I had him put down; it's important to note that the dogs that routinely patrolled the boundries had either died or become too infirm to maintain their "duties". The remaining 4 cats are still here, the eldest is 17. The elderly dogs have gone to the "happy hunting ground" and have been replaced by a very active young, neutered male dog. No deer sited nor any foxes heard in the past 2 years! Maybe they're there, may be not. I don't know for sure. But I know that our cats are in our home at night and we suffer minimal vole damage in our gardens. Deer do not browse our plantings, either....See Moredavidandkasie
