nuisance neighbour's cat
Comments (5)Look at the Scarecrow motion detector water sprinkler. Battery operated; connected by hose to your water system...it can be adjusted to spray up to about a 30-ft distance. You'll want to set it up so you can get to the back of it to turn it off without setting it off first--unless you don't mind getting wet yourself. I've been using a couple of them for a few weeks. They work reliably, although they haven't solved my problem...keeping a local tomcat from attacking my outdoor cats. I think they'd be great for keeping a cat out of a small garden area. Kind of pricey at $89 each, but might be worth it, if it solves your problem. I got mine on E-bay for less. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: the manufacturer's site...See MoreAm I just a PITA neighbour or is there a problem?
Comments (47)This is really old, so the I doubt that the OP is still reading, or the issue has been resolved. But I'm with the "shouldn't be legal according to building codes" camp. There should be a minimum chimney height "above the highest point in the roof within x feet of the chimney" kind of building code rule. If this makes the chimney too high for single wall pipe, you can always add insulated chimney pipe that is easier to get heated, and will retain enough heat in the flow through it to not affect the draft. Well known fact that if a chimney is tall enough to let the flow through it cool, that will slow down the draft, hence insulated chimney pipe needs to be used. Anyways, yes, this would not be acceptable to me, either. In fact, in our area a woodstove that smoked that much (is that inefficient) couldn't be able to be sold commercially, due to air quality concerns. Stoves here must have either a catalytic converter or must be much more efficient burners than that one. Of course, there's no control on the used market, other than just being a good citizen and having consideration for general and neighbor's air quality. Or someone reporting this smoke plume to local building code enforcement, much less likely to happen....See MoreWhat killed my cat?
Comments (16)How heartbreaking! She looks like such a sweetheart and what a beautiful girl. Blood can come out of their orifices after death. So that might not have anything to do with the cause. It is shocking to see. Circling can be neurological. Looking around, it does sound like it could have been a snake bite. Are you in an area with poisonous snakes? Maybe your vet can look her over for a bite if you cremate her. I'd probably take her over and talk to him anyway for some degree of closure. So sorry and so sad for both of you. Such a sudden death is terribly shocking. Lucky for her she found a home where she was loved so much. All should be so lucky....See MoreIam recall killed my cat
Comments (6)I had a big old male tabby with a megacolon. He was fed expensive cat food most of his life, and one day I bought some of that really old fashioned pate' brand in the standard sized can and he loved it. Not only did he love it, for the first time in years he was able to evacuate most of the time without assistance from medicines or enemas. One by one all of the local stores discontinued the cheap brands for the cute little gourmet cans with the high price tags. I started going all over the county to find the ones who mights still be carrying those two brands, and couldn't even get stores to order cases in for me. Cats, and especially cats with medical problems, can't be switched around from food to food when you find a food they can eat and it works for them. I am so sorry to hear of your cat's situation. It just shouldn't happen....See Moremaifleur01
