Installing Groutable Vinyl Tile

I live in a 1950's pier and beam home with a large kitchen that I have been wanting to re-tile. I have had a few smart people tell me that the shifting Texas soil makes installing ceramic tile in a large room a bad idea.

I bought some of that groutable TrafficMaster vinyl tile at Home Depot, but have a couple of questions for any of you experts or those who may have used it.

1. I currently have 3 layers of linoleum covering the floor (2 are squares, 1 looks like a big sheet). I don't know what is underneath but I assume plywood. Am I better off installing this as an additional layer over the existing vinyl or tearing it all out and installing directly on whatever lies beneath?

2. Do you all recommend pre-mixed grout for between the tiles (I bought some colored Simple Grout)

Any other suggestions before I get started? Thanks!
