Wow, absolutely gorgeous! I need to study this in much more detail later for my planned kitchen reno (still planning...) , but for now, did you look into the distance between that range and the 15" deep uppers? I had asked here, https://www.houzz.com/discussions/dilemma-pro-range-hood-and-ikea-15-uppers-dsvw-vd~5416025 I had asked, So, the plan was to get a 30" Viking gas range, 36" hood, and IKEA cabinets, which are 15" deep for the uppers. Kind of like this but wider hood. Reading the installation guide, I now see that a minimum of 18" distance between range and hood (check) as well as 6" side clearance are required if the uppers are deeper than 13" (which they are). I was basically told that this set up above is a no no with IKEA's new deeper uppers unless I pull the base cabs forward.

@Beth wow - what slab of quartz did you use for your island? A 3 cm i assume. @mhcooper : Looks well done for 12k. I would change the island hardware to gold to offset the white and black of the surrounding area. The only other change i would have made would be to remove the cabinets (with 4 doors) above that nook so you can have a full view when looking at your dining table and realllly open up the space. I always disliked that obstruction. It always shock me when people spend so much money refacing cabinets, just a pay a guy to sand, prime, sand, paint, sand, paint your cabinets a color of your choosing, or buy brand new cabinets (there are so many options out there for under 5k w/ install).

I think you can, yes. We splurged on custom cabinets(small space, U-shape, wanted maximum efficiency)-but saved on appliances (hunted open box etc). We also had another cabinetmaker that we knew already from another project and that would do same job for cheaper, but our GC insisted on going with his guy-not that I regretted it, he was an amazing cabinetmaker. Just echoing that it's possible to get somebody good and pay not a lot more than for IKEA,when all said and done. IKEA can be quite nice too. A friend went for IKEA with Semihandmade doors(not that cheap either really, but then they DIY ed everything, all the house)-her kitchen could be in a magazine, both in terms of style and function. She's a great cook, pro level. They also made it much bigger footprint and completely redid the layout. I think that them DIY-ing everything helped a lot, a lot with the budget. But not with timelines, obviously. I think our kitchen was around 30K , I'd say it's a bit smaller than yours. But that not including electrical, plumbing and paint-the kitchen was a part of a much bigger remodel, so it's hard to separate the costs. That's if I put together cabinets, countertops, backsplash tiles, sink, faucet and appliances-in short materials only. We're in So Cal, I have another friend who remodeled several years ago in Milwaukee and from what she told then about remodel, seemed very cheap, surprizingly so. I don't know details though, and several years ago might be a different story.

I have been in my home 10 years and I am finally ready to do my crummy kitchen. We did all the mechanicals first, plumbing, electrical, roof, etc. Then we started with the interior spaces, first the downstairs bathroom, then the downstairs rooms. Then a full upstairs gut to the studs, and now the kitchen. I wanted to do the kitchen the minute I moved in, but it ends up being the last room done. We have made small changes, like paint, lighting and new appliances, but until I could afford to do what I wanted, with the finishes I wanted, I held off.
