HD Traffic Master Engineering Wood Florring

BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT. We installed over 700 square feet of Traffic Master engineered wood Brazilian Cherry flooring in our home in Sep 2007. Within just a few weeks we noticed the flooring was protruding in one area. In a very short amount of time this started happening all over the floor. In some spots, the engineering wood portion of the product is completely loose from the plywood backing. In many areas in the middle of the boards, it looks like it is a paper product which has bulges under it. We contacted HD (they contacted the manufacturer) feeling certain that with a 25-year warranty, our problem would be taken care of. We were informed that there is nothing wrong with the floor, we just dont have enough humidity in our house. We must keep the humidity in our house between 35-65% at all times for this floor to lay properly. We asked why this was never revealed when we bought the product; if we had known this we certainly would not have purchased this product as we do not have a lot of moisture in this area. Of course, they said this was on the product which a search revealed this info at the very bottom of the instructions on the BACK SIDE of the sheet in the front of the carton of flooring. We would have had to take a cutter into the store and cut open a carton of flooring to be able to get to this information. No salesperson was kind enough to bring this to our attention. The manufacturer told us to run a humidifier and get the moisture level up. After several weeks the floor was still standing. Another call to the manufacturer and we were told we just didnÂt have enough humidity yet and we should keep our bathtubs full of hot water and run the hot water in the showers to raise up the humidity. (I wonder how you are to keep small children from the danger of the hot water and mold.) After several more complaints someone sent a floor inspector to the house who measured the moisture level in the flooring and said it was only at 27% and if we got it above 30 heÂs sure the floor would be fine. So according to the manufacturer and seller, we are stuck with a house full of flooring that is an embarrassment and a hazard as some of the boards can be tripped on. I do not recommend this product to anyone. It is definitely a work enhancer rather than a home enhancer! It has actually devalued our home as we could not sell it with this flooring in it.
