All I can say it you're a good mom! My oldest had all manner of reptiles when he was in high school - but my rule was they all had to have legs, no snakes allowed.

I would have fainted on the spot. You did good! You need to frame the picture and give it to your dh as a gift. lol.

We live in the country and get our fair share of snakes. My husband just gets behind them (they're not poisonous), picks them up by the neck and throws them over the fence.

Me? I'd shoot them!

We (DH) had a pet snake. We had to force feed it baby food when it got sick (I would have let the snake starve) and we needed to enlist the help of neigbors when we fed it. The snake had to be held outstretched while my husband inserted a tube into it's body and forced baby food down it's throat. Considering it was a 5' snake, we needed about 6 people to hold it still.

Those were really good friends, don't you think?

Told my mom about my adventure and she was mortified, afraid I'd get a snake as a pet. No thanks. I admire snakes, don't mind touching them, but have zero desire to own one.

My DD touched it, but would not hold it...she's a bit braver than her dad, but not much. Poor Max was very upset about it, but I was afraid of how he'd react to the snake if he got up close. More, I was afraid of what the snake would do to my doggy.

Yes, Mona, those ARE good friends. I couldn't imagine having to force feed a snake.

One time my DH tried to play a prank on me. He'd found a tiny garter snake and had his nephew put it in a bag. He handed me the bag and told me it was a surprise for me. He told me it was some butterflies. That creeped me out so I C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y opened it as I held it away from me, (I'm scare of butterflies) and when I saw it was the snake I reached in and pulled it out. You could have knocked DH over with a feather, he thought I'd be screaming!

I had similar "fun" in Puerto Vallarta a couple of years ago. I was very squeamish about letting the snake's owner wrap this guy around my neck, and as you can see, he pretty much slithered wherever he wanted to go! It did make for a good photo op though. ;-)

Pesky, you are SO brave! I am deathly afraid of snakes.

Last night Toby got bitten by a copper head, so I was suited up in tall boots before going outside. Those things frighten me.

Jen, I thought that was a scarf! Now I think that may have given me just a bit of the heebiejeebies.
