A rant, a food update and why does cat poop on carpet
Comments (3)Carla, you are to be commended for your patience. Cats and dogs are complex creatures both physically and psychologically. Is Kitty otherwise healthy? Wasn't he/she having the 'loosies' a while back?. Hopefully, at least that is remedied with the Welness canned? There are cat products available that you can spray which neutralize odors. They are made for the purpose of training cats away from inappropriate relief areas. Ask at your pet store...I'm sure the subject has come up many times. Hopefully, he was just trying to tell you something about forgetting to clean his fave box. I would watch him and perhaps keep him confined in the non-bedroom litter box area for one night to get him back on the right track....See MoreWhat canned food do you feed your cat?
Comments (20)I get a lot of cat food donated to me. One of the reasons is I took in several cats from the humane society that were considered unadoptable. I also get cat food donated to me for the wildlife. If I buy canned food, I buy Fancy Feast Classic. I do feed cat food with gravy but I don't like it. One of the reasons, if I am feeding a large number of cats, the food with gravy doesn't fall out of the can as neatly as the food that is without gravy. You have to take a spoon and scrape some of it out. If I am opening 50 cans...that takes too long. Plus, it gives some cats diarrhea, or at least, loose stools. I always have a few hundred cans of cat food here at any one time, so I only buy some of the Classic if I am feeding one of my inside cats and I don't have any. However, it is rare that I have to buy it. Every morning and every evening all the cats get dry food. If the outside cats get canned food, it depends on how much time I have that I can open the cans. I got several cases of Sheba donated to me....and it was all like Classic....came out in a lump. Another food I like is Wellness and I get some of that sometimes. Here is a picture of inside my feed room. This is all cat food, except for the cases of food in the cardboard boxes in the corner....that is a dog food, but the possums like it. It also doesn't have gravy, and comes out in a nice block that I can chop up for them. I also get every kind of prescription diet you can think of too....See MoreCat allergic to 'normal' cat food!
Comments (4)"...... tumours or growths in his mouth that have to be treated with expensive medicine....." Are these "tumours" resolved with the medicine? Are they eosinophillic plaques? That could be an auto-immune thing and not necessarily food related. Maybe best to get another veterinarian's opinion about this cat's health. Someone who does Internal Medicine or a Dermatologist who would do specifics for allergy testing....See MoreDo you have a cat hair chair?
Comments (32)IdaClaire - yes, my chair will probably get written off to the cats in the not too distant future. I bought this lovely new leather bench after I moved and it sits across from my chairs in the "listening room". It makes the upholstered cat chair and the cat scratched leather chair and ottoman look kind of crummy in comparison. Pondering what to get next. Speaking of hair everywhere, we do brush our cats pretty often. The long haired black one also gets furminated. That gets a lot of hair out and fine clouds of hair float all over. DH does the furminating because he's figured out how to get her to let him do it. When he's done furminating, he picks up the gobs of hair from the carpet and he goes over the cat with a regular brush to catch the hair that's still clinging to her. Then he brushes the carpet with the cat brush to get up the rest of the fine hair clinging to the carpet. People who don't have pets couldn't begin to imagine what we subject ourselves to....See Morenoinwi
