We give our two Fancy Feast Grilled Chicken Feast in Gravy every morning.

We used to give them wet food morning and night, but our Vet suggested just once a day.

I buy the Fancy Feast at WalMart or Target. I can get a case of 12 cans for about $7.

My cats get canned food at night. I buy Friskies and 9 Lives from Walmart. The 5.5 oz. single cans are 46 cents, and the 4-packs are less. I buy all different flavors, to amuse myself more than the cats. Not a picky one in the bunch.

The rest of the time they get Purina Naturals dry food.

My son and DIL feed Wegman's brand of canned food, and Newman's Own dry food. They swear the Newman's Own has improved even their cats' dispositions. And the cats eat less of it because the nutritional value is so high. I've been tempted to try it, despite the expense, but it isn't carried by my usual stores.

I only have outside cats and I never feed them canned. I feed them dry,.

Peeka loves gravy also. His favorite is Meow MIx canned, .48cents @ Walmart, the salmon and crab. Some days he eats 2 cans plus dry Meow Mix.....other days it's all about the Greenie kitty treats.

How much does everyones cat weigh? Mine is @ 14lbs.

My cat has a thyroid problem and has lost a lot of weight. The vet started her on medication and said to feed her whatever she would eat until we get some weight on her. I give her Iams dry food and 1/2 can of tuna packed in water per day. The dry food is available to her whenever she wants it. She also gets a little bit of milk in the am which is the only way to get the medication into her. The evening meds are wrapped in a soft cat treat. She needs to go back to the vet next week for a weigh in and blood test. She is not a small cat and had gotten down to only 6 lbs. She is definitely gaining and Im anxious to see what she now weighs

Socks, Daisy is a cutie. You don't see female orange cats as often as males. She's very pretty.

My boy, Rocket, gets Fancy Feast dry food and Whiskas wet food - filet mignon - in a white square plastic container. One container lasts two days and it costs about 55 to 65 cents each.

Rocket weighs about 14 lbs, I think.

Right now, I'm feeding my cat Special Kitty (Mixed Grill Dinner), which is Walmart's brand - he eats every bite!

My cat, Smokey, will only eat Sheba chicken pâté and Sheba whitefish and tuna. Sometimes Walmart runs out of the chicken and doesn't carry the whitefish and tune. I tried several other brands but he won't even sniff them. He just walks away.

The Air Force BX just started carrying it and so has the Navy exchange. Hooray!

Our cat always has dry food available any time he wants it, but for breakfast we use either Friskies or Nine Lives and for supper, two cans of Fancy Feast. I buy enough varities so that he doesn't get the same thing each day. We buy by the case...8 cases, then I divide those into stacks of 2. We are down to just one cat now. Last night he also enjoyed some breaded fish I brought home from O'Charlies restaurant.

My vets have always sugested dry food for cats and dogs. Currently the cats are eating Taste of the Wild.

I get a lot of cat food donated to me. One of the reasons is I took in several cats from the humane society that were considered unadoptable. I also get cat food donated to me for the wildlife. If I buy canned food, I buy Fancy Feast Classic. I do feed cat food with gravy but I don't like it. One of the reasons, if I am feeding a large number of cats, the food with gravy doesn't fall out of the can as neatly as the food that is without gravy. You have to take a spoon and scrape some of it out. If I am opening 50 cans...that takes too long. Plus, it gives some cats diarrhea, or at least, loose stools. I always have a few hundred cans of cat food here at any one time, so I only buy some of the Classic if I am feeding one of my inside cats and I don't have any. However, it is rare that I have to buy it. Every morning and every evening all the cats get dry food. If the outside cats get canned food, it depends on how much time I have that I can open the cans. I got several cases of Sheba donated to me....and it was all like Classic....came out in a lump. Another food I like is Wellness and I get some of that sometimes. Here is a picture of inside my feed room. This is all cat food, except for the cases of food in the cardboard boxes in the corner....that is a dog food, but the possums like it. It also doesn't have gravy, and comes out in a nice block that I can chop up for them.

I also get every kind of prescription diet you can think of too.

I haven't seen 9-Lives in forever! I used to feed my very first cat that, she loved it.

Ours get Friskies canned food.......one can divided by 3 cats, for breakfast. They like all flavours. The regular price can be anywhere from 59c to 79c per can. I only buy it on sale, then stock up.

Walmart also has the best price for dry food and I keep a variety of hand. Big selection of both wet and dry but not EVERY flavor at Walmart. Also at Walmart is a smaller selection of 9 Lives 5.5 oz. cans. The price is less than Friskies but can't remember what it is. Some 9 Lives also contain 'gravy or sauce.'

Sometimes switching a cat over to a different brand can be difficult, and the human's resolve will be severely tested by a 10 pound stubborn feline

Well, I'm not going to let Libby see this thread!! She gets Science Diet dry food, available all the time, and a heaping tablespoon of canned Friskies in the morning. She also gets about 1/4 cup of Whiskas treat at bedtime. Here she is, helping me sew

We've gone though a variety of cat food for our fur-babies..Simba, our Persian only eats Fancy Feast (if it's chicken) and cooked chicken breast, Clancy only eats canned Friskies, (would starve if he had to eat dry), Kaylee and Kelly will eat almost all kinds of canned Friskies and Baylee, (Baby Girl) will only eat Canned Friskies if it's beef with gravy.....Jake the outside cat will eat anything and everything the inside cats don't want....AND they all love canned tuna... I do keep Friskies dry in their dishes at all times...And they do love their treats....Baby Girl thinks if she hears someone say, "good", she gets a treat.........I wonder who has who spoiled in this household......

Thunderboltlee, our walmart is the most expensive for the Friskies, aside from the large drugstore chain.

Costco's price is good for a case of 24 cans.

Satine, tuna is very bad for cats. It can cause an inflammation of the fatty tissue called steatitis. Also malnutrition. AND it can be very addictive, leading to refusal to eat more balanced cat food.

Jasdip, sure wish Costco was closer; the nearest is 39.6 miles away.
I live in a very small rural county which is wonderful in most respects except for the dearth of shopping and restaurants.

I can sympathize with Socks in his quest and tried to offer a couple of brands and a place he might try. Keeping a detailed list of likes/dislikes of new brands will keep the poor cat staff busy!

He WAS getting 1/2 a can of either Friskies or 9Lives in the morning and the other half at night, until he started trying to cover it like it was poop.

Now, he gets about a tablespoon, and if he eats it, I'll give him more.

Daisy ate the Friskies last night, but this morning it's just sitting there. She's a nibbler, so maybe later she will eat it. She's very thin and bony, so I do worry. Thanks everyone.
