GO Steelers!

K who's up for a CF Super Bowl showdown?

I'm willing to bet three jars on my dills and two jars of my Chile Sauce to the first 5 silly people who want to bet on Green Bay...but what is your offer?

    Sorry...I can't bet...my conscience won't let me...it'd be like taking candy from a baby.

Oh my... I would love to bet! Your dills are legendary and I still have yet to try making them. Well..... I'm not sure what I could counter with. I have habanero gold and I am about to put up more asparagus (pickled, sort of Bread & Butter). Otherwise, are there any cookbooks you have your eye on? Or I am open to ideas......

Not that I need to worry, the Packers are going to win going away!

For some reason it made me think of the Wizard of Oz! You know how it starts off in black and white and then burst into color as Dorothy's headed down the yellow brick road! Kind-of like spring just think of all the wonderful color we have to look forward too! :) Well now that you all think I've lost it lol! I hope you have a wonderful day! I can recommend Busse Gardens (MN), Fairweather Gardens (NJ?), and Forest Farm (OR?) as three of the best catalog/on-line sources I've used. All send good-sized to huge plants (Forest Farm will even ship trees in 5 gallon containers) at reasonable prices. Forest Farm has the broadest variety of the three, but all have good depth of selection. I've ordered from many nurseries, and these three are the best. I also really like Song Sparrow--good plants, fair-for-the-quality prices, and exquisite catalog.

Alexa, a local goodie would do. Nothing extravagant, just particular to your area to put some skin in the game.

    Can't play...it's a Black and Yellow household here. :)

Then it's a bet! If needed, I will find something from the farmers market that I can ship.

Best of luck (Sending a cyber handshake)

    Go Steelers!

Are you serving any good cheese at your SB party??? LOL!

I bet Chris is pumped up big time for the game.

    Go Packers!!!

Plenty of dills on hand but I'm almost out of chile sauce though. I could send some OK pecans, honey, bbq seasoning/sauce. Think I still have a jar of hab gold left in the pantry too. Have a couple of other ideas too.

    David

    You're on to big guy!!!

And no Chris is not pumped he's a die hard Bagels fan!

However he is cheering for the Steelers becasue the kicker is a kid from Ontario.

LOL That would be Eagles fan although he likes bagels too!!

OK still time any other takers?

I barely know whose playing ...but I am cooking!

My brother, who could/should be a sports announcer, and I were talking the other day and one new-to-me-fact was that in the South, college football rules but not up north much.
My mom and dad are both Auburn grads and the last time Auburn was number one was the year Dad graduated, 1957. He has been euphoric this winter!
I keep up with college ball for him, so we can talk, but otherwise, I'm not even at the level of the casual fan, according to brother.
Dad is also a Redskin fan, ever since we lived in DC when I was a child.
Anyway, Dad has lived with us for the past ten years and football has been the main highlight of his life. I try to watch games with him (I read a book and watch commercials) and make tasty meals to accompany the games.

I remember you looking for a jersey for him while we were in NYC a couple of years ago. Couldn't remember for sure if it was the Eagles or the Steelers. Game/bet on pal!!

I'll check back at half time to give you a hard time.....I hope! LOL Black Eyed Peas should be a good show.

Black and Gold, all the way.

Looking forward to a great game!

Just by reading this thread I've figured out who is playing and who is doing the half time show. (grin) I quit watching the half time show after The Rolling Stones, when all I could think of is that someone needed to tell Mick Jagger that 60+ year old men shouldn't wear leather pants! It was just scary, LOL, and scarred me for further half time viewing. Well that, and Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction"...

OK, so I'll take Green Bay for a hunk of cheese (gotta throw in cheese, it's Wisconsin) and some Penzey's spices and I'll add your choice of sauerkraut or salsa. Or both. I still won't bother to watch, but I'll figure out who won in the morning when I get to work and turn on the computer...

    you're in for the salsa......

    TD Packers!! Woo Hoo!

I'm home alone... had to cancel my party due to the storm.

    Make that two!!!

who said college football doesn't reign "up north"??
Ever been to a Big 10 Game???
Linda C....who doesn't give a hoot who wins, but really thinks the Pack will clean up.

It ain't over until the fat lady sings!

You surely do get crappy weather in OK. worse than we do actually. Thats what you get for rooting for the wrong team!

Seriously though, the weather you are getting is nuts. Stay safe ans stay warm.

It's going to be a great second half depending who comes back from the locker rooms ready to play. I'm serving the cheese plate now.....LOL! Shaun's wings are in the oven and my chili is ready. Clinking with a Windsor...the store was out of Crown yesterday thanks to the storm!!!

Lindac, I'm more of a college fan for sure. Been to a few Big 12 games over the years. Still a die hard Vikes fan though.

    Yeah Steelers........it ain't over 'til it's over.....

The nachos are all gone, the chile is on the stove if you care to serve yourself, and that's going to be it because himself's rooting fo the wrong side !

    Chase:
I'll stay with you. Go Steelers !!!!!!!!!
I think they are going to do it.

I would have liked to see the Eagles in here.

Oh man we have a great game going on.....love it!! I'll get himself some chili....I know he cleans up well...he loads a DW better than I do!!

Fantastic game! I spent it at a friends house - pierogies, wisconsin beer brats, queso, etc etc etc.... great game, fab friends, good food & booze. A successful Super Bowl IMO!!!!

    A

And Sharon, I cant WAIT to taste the original dills. Love ya sistah!!!!!

All I have to say is that Ken was clinking to the Packers with a Crown cocktail early in the evening! I'm thinking that's what did it!

Yay, Roethlisberger lost and Alex get dill pickles.

We do love ya, Sharon. I'm with Chris - an Eagles fan. Or Bagels.

    Bagels! LOLOLOLOLOLOL! With cream cheese!

I absolutely cannot wait to taste the real deal dills.... I have heard about them for years.

Great game for sure! It's been a crazy season for college and pro again this year. Love the upsets and the whole season this year. Who is ready for March Madness???

A late night clink to Ken.....I think that Crown did it for the Packers...even though I didn't have any!!!! LOL

(I was in the kitchen with the girls gabbing...was it a good game?)

Congrats to both teams for getting there, and to the fans for getting there, too, with the crazy weather.

I wasn't invested in either team until my brother, who called from Perth, said he was rooting more or less for the Packers out of fondness for our childhood watching Vince Lombardi and his team at the Icebowl. My memory was that we (meaning my Dad and me) were Greenbay fans back then. We lived in Casper, Wyo., so Dallas wasn't even a thought to us. My brother remembers rooting for a variety of teams. Anyway, it was a good game, but so-so commercials. They didn't have a clydesdale commercial, so I'm very disappointed. There was one commercial with a glimpse of the clydesdales, and it was just plain weird.

    Sally

Sally, I agree, the commercials weren't as good this year, neither was the halftime show. I always watch for the Clydesdales and was disappointed. Ugh.

They shoulda sent the Bagels to play! I'd have watched THAT. LOL Sharon gets GOOD bagels in Toronto...

Elery and Ashley are going to be so happy, they love, love, love Sharon's dills and I didn't make many last year, the cukes didn't do that well. I made my own chile sauce with Sharon's recipe, so Sharon, send my chile sauce to Moe, we'll get everyone involved here.

Woodie, I still have to send you the whipped cream vodka, I still have it.

    Annie

Annie, thanks but save it for when I come to visit - or when you come to visit us when we're in Saugatuck.

You win some you lose some......next year I hope its the Bagels!

K you three brats send me your addresses by email.

Sharon, you make me think of my Mom - she always called "us kids" brats, even when (or maybe especially when) we were all grown up :)

Man I wish I would have bet!! Somehow I just felt Aaron Rogers and the Packers were on an end of season roll. BF is a rabid Packers fan, so I am by default. Although I am definately a bigger Bagels fan than I am Packers. I was just too sick to think about sending anything. I'm on week 3 with this flu, my immune system appears to be totally shot. I had banana jam and three kinds of salsa to bet too! Yum.

The Bagels would have schmeared both of those teams!

Well, not being a betting type person,
I didn't take your challenge, Sharon.
    But I seriously considered it,
just because I'm curious as to whether your Chili sauce
is as good as everyone says it is. :>)

Guess I should have broken my own rules for once.

And I agree about the commercials!
    Most were terrible.
I watched them all, waiting for the Clydesdales,
    What a disapointment ! !

    Half time shows?
Never again, after that one last night ! !

Is was a good game, though.
    And I don't even like football. . . .

    Rusty

WIN dedtired for that cheesy pun.

Very fun game to watch. I'm sad for the Steelers, but happy that some of you get to experience Sharon's delicious dills!

    Enjoy them!
